Lightweight and simple!
I bought this for a recent backpacking trip. I was looking for something that could filter water for several people so we all didn't have to carry a filter. It's slightly larger than some of the other water filters I've purchased and used in the past but I found it worked perfectly for our needs. It was small enough that I would take it again on a solo backpacking trip but also filtered water fast enough that the 3 of us could use it easily. My favorite thing it is that my Nalgene bottle screwed directly onto the top of this filter and I could use it as an inline filter directly from the lake or stream into my bottle. Didn't have to squat down to reach the water. I would purchase again if I felt like I needed too but this bottle feels like it was built to last! Very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone looking at a new filter for their pack.

BUSTED when i needed it the most :(
I was in a remote backpacking trip in Sawtooth. This was the second trip i used this filter. when i was pumping water into my nalgene bottle, the pressure inside the system became too excessive and suddenly the system’s top part (glued and locked in) broke off with a big blast sound releasing all the pressure inside the system. Fortunately a couple camping near us shared their water filter helping us continue our trip. But this is definitely not expected from a brand calling itself “lifesaver”.

Essential for survival prep

I purchased this product last February and have yet to use it in true survival scenarios but from what I’ve tested here at home is that it’s easy to use and has great water flow. After testing it in the comfort of my own home, I’m confident to take this with me on my adventures this summer.

Best as a pump filter, good as a travel bottle

Took this on a motorcycle trip through Washington and Oregon. Holds enough water to use as a bottle throughout the day, but it really shines as a pump to fill a dromedary bag and nalgene by way of the scavenger hose. Flow is very good.

Lightweight , removes viruses

It’s easy to use and doesn’t weigh much. The key thing is it removes viruses. Many stomach problems are incorrectly attributed to giardia when in reality it was a virus. So this bottle is definitely a must have for camping.

Robust and Versatile!

This is a great filter system. It's great value for a purifier, I never need to worry about viral loads in the water. Both a bottle and a pump filter, it's easy to use and lets me carry a bit of water with me between creeks and campsites.

Have had 2 of these break after minimal use

I thought the first failure might have been user error but after the second one exploded on me Im certain it wasnt. The filter works great for the first few uses. Both of mine clogged quickly even when pumping from a relatively clean water source. The second unit I got clogged within 10 liters . When production slowed I tried to clean the filter cartridge. After cleaning the cartridge and pumping 3-4 times the unit exploded. If you buy this filter make sure you have a backup plan. The water bottle feature is silly. It barely holds any water and contributes to extra weight and bulk. When it did work the water tasted great but this unit is not reliable for backpacking.

Overcomplicated design

They really tried to reinvent the wheel with this thing. It's large, heavy, and really not user-friendly. You need to unscrew the body to fill it with water, which is next to impossible when it's already pressurized from a previous use and your hands are wet, which they likely will be if you're standing in a river to get water. There should be a bleed valve of some sort to let off pressure so you can get the thing open. It is also the slowest filter in the world, no matter how much you pressurize it the rate does not increase.

Backpacking Bestie!

Took this on a long weekend backpacking trip through glacier park last Summer. The bottle option is ok (glad it's there). Easy to follow a river trail and drink when needed. At camp the pump produces a lot of water quickly. Spend the extra $25 and go from a filter to purifier- then you don't have to worry!
