Strap of many, many uses!

Received free product

I received two straps in exchange for an honest review. I used to use a similar product for alpine skis, but forgot about them when I moved to backcountry... I have used the Black Diamond straps several times, for different things, and keep finding new uses for them. The suppleness of the material is fabulous - it wraps around anything! And, because it is silicone (?)/rubbery, it doesn't slide, so whatever you anchor, stays put. The tightening/fastening mechanism is super simple, and pretty much effortless, even with gloves. I have used them to strap skis together, to strap skis to my backpack, to strap snowshoes to my backpack, and to strap stuff in the back of my SUV to various anchor points to keep it from rattling around. I can totally see taking these backpacking, to attach stuff to the outside of my pack. However, I don't know how much they weigh, so don't know if their functionality would justify the weight. All in all, these things are great, and I will get more of them just to have around for whatever needs strapping to something.....

A great strap for skiing, and anything else.

Received free product

The spring melt set on very quickly in upstate NY, so I had to get creative with ways for using this ski strap. Anyways, one of the first things I noticed that was different from most other ski straps I've used was that the metal buckle was notched. This helped to prevent the buckle from slipping out, which is an annoying issue that I've had with other ski straps in the past. I've been using the strap for securing a spare tube on my mountain bike, so the added security was nice. Only issue I could see with the notches is that it may cause the strap holes to wear more quickly than they otherwise would. Besides the notched buckle, a solid ski strap that does everything I'd expect it to do, namely secure pretty much anything in place.

Easy to use and good utility

Received free product

These ski straps are high quality and can be used for uses other than tying your skis together too. I did use these to tie the top and bottom of my skis together, so they'd stay together during transport, but look up other uses of ski straps online and you'll see how useful they can be. As far as their use as ski straps, they worked well and are pretty robust, and can pretty much fit any size ski. They are long and wrapped around my 100mm skis twice, and have a loop so that extra length can be tucked in. The rubber is able to be pulled pretty tight and then locked into place by the metal pin. I can't see these coming loose accidentally if tightened enough around the skis. My only suggestion for these is to make it slightly easier to see which side should stay up so that the metal pin faces the right way when tightening the strap.

Holds skis tightly

Received free product

After many years of using foam/hook and loop ski straps I did not have high expectations. Boy was I wrong. These work well on both Alpine and Nordic skis. When slogging Alpine skis through town or on the bus, I like to keep the skis and poles together, (one less thing to keep track of). The Black Diamond ski straps do a great job of this. The skis don't shift and the poles remain in place. I found one strap did just fine and the length is more than long enough. For Nordic skis two straps are necessary, and don't need to be as long, but with the keeper for the tail end a second wrap is not a problem.

Outstanding Upgrade

Received free product

I just returned from a one week ski touring trip across the Alps from Chamonix, France to Zermatt, Switzerland known as the Haute Route. These new straps were priceless, and provided quick and easy solutions for all kinds of problems that arose. Once you use these, you'll wonder how you got through life without them! The strap retainers are awesome, a much needed upgrade from the other brands that are out there. These straps are great for all kinds of sports and I will be buying extras to keep in my cars, backpacks and bikes bags. Their versatility and convenience is only matched by their strength and retaining power. Pick up a half dozen and make your life more simple and secure.

Not just for skis!

Received free product

I love these straps. I use them to strap skis for transport and to my pack. To lash snowshoes to my pack, secure clothing or oversized water bottles to my bike frame, hold items on my rack, extra hold on bike transport, extra straps on my backpacking bag, and even used them on home projects. Not long enough? Connect two of them together. I always have at least one with me on any activity. I have multiple brands, these are very comparable to the others. They do include a loop to hold down the extra length which none of my others have, very useful as I normally am shoving the excess under the strap itself.

Perfect for carrying skis!

Received free product

I’m an absolutely newbie on the slopes. This was my first season skiing, and have come to love it. As a father of a young child, I’m used to carrying anything and everything. With skis, it’s especially difficult, because they aren’t exactly easy to hold, especially if you also have boots. These straps easily tie skis together at the top so they don’t separate and make them even more cumbersome to carry by hand. I have also found that it helps stabilize skis when you have them on a backpack. These have just the right amount of stretch and stickiness in the rubber to prevent them from sliding around in your arms.

Black Diamond Ski Straps 25”

Received free product

These straps are super durable and make it very easy to quickly strap skis or other gear together. I used the velcro straps for a while but they only really worked on my skis but with these I can use them on my other gear as well. I used them on my mountain bike for a short bike packing trip and they worked like a charm. I also used it to help secure some camera equipment to my kayak. Very versatile and durable. I recommend this product. Great gear straps.

Strapped up

I’m writing this review because I love black Diamond. I have a ski shell, ski bibs, backpack, polos, dri-fit hoodies. You name it. The quality is incredible, reliable and top of the line. The customer service continues to bring me back to buy only the gear I need, but I can’t seem to stop myself from telling others about their products. I got my house robbed of my back country touring kit and I ended up buying Black Diamond products with the insurance reimbursement. I think that speaks for itself. Anyways, I haven’t used it yet, but I bet this strap wraps my skis together like you wouldn't believe.
