Great idea!
Such a great idea. For us (the kids and friends in our neighborhood) the product simply did not work in most instances. It needs to be better so people can enjoy it without the axe NOT sticking. I figure that by the time REI posts this, the product will be no longer sold as it is now.

Love this game! Bought for the kids for Christmas but the parents love it just as much.

This ace throwing game is well built for the price tag! The item is easily portable and has been in our kit for multiple trips and parties. The setup for it is pretty specific to being on a wall and I think this is where the product could be improved as it’s not too conducive to camping unless you use a tall tent or trailer. Most of the reviews on here complain that the axes don’t stick, but unless you get the velcro dirty or have some manufacturing defect, they don’t have an issue sticking. It’s more of a reflection of your skill level with throwing and how you mounted the target. As with real axe throwing, it’s all about technique with your throw ensuring you get a solid rotation so the blade sets up on the target correctly. Also, considering these are made out of foam you can’t throw them too hard unless you are precise. The velcro is pretty forgiving and it will stick with poor throws if you don’t throw it too hard. Overall it’s a solid game and has provided hours of fun!

I got this for my nephews to play with thinking it might keep them busy for a little while, but these axes rock really great quality and a lot of fun.

Fun family game!
This is a family favorite! I bought it on a whim after seeing it in REI and it’s great! You can play indoors or out. As others noted it should have a solid flat surface behind it like a wall or a door. And yeah sometimes the axes fall off, but that’s like part of the game — you have to figure out how best to throw it so they stick. Only problem we’ve ever encountered is if an axe does fall, the dog likes to run off with it!
Fun but needs a solid backing.
Tried playing off of a tree but it spins if you hit the edges. Make sure you have a solid flat surface behind the board.
It's a great idea
We have played with this in the backyard with the target attached to a solid wall. This is such a great idea and we hoped the axes would stick to the target. It makes sense that the axes are light weight and that they attach to the target with velcro when it sticks. But they usually don't stick...
Excellent game
I bought this for Christmas, we’ve used it several times. It’s great, we get the axes to stick each time, it’s super portable. We’ve taken it to friends houses for game night. Just a good time. The foam axes are light and don’t cause damage to other surfaces. Highly recommend!
Great in theory, but didn’t work.
So cute, but unfortunately, the axes didn’t stick. Had to return.
