A bit disappointed
Well, they are comfortable. They were strong looking, but they lasted six months. The sole got severely worn out and the side of the sole began to unglue itself. Very disappointing for a 130 dollar shoe, I expected more. I never used this for hiking, only to walk around a school.
Good in the short run. So-so in the the long haul.
Bought these about a six months ago to replace Merrill slip-ons that just weren’t durable. These held up in ways that the Merrill’s did not- great toe box, plenty of tread left. However, the outside lugs on each side began to tear off. And as time wore on, the leather stretched and the fit became really sloppy. Even when walking through dewy grass, they would also become water soaked, infiltrating to my socks. This week, I was walking on some mildly muddy trails and one shoe just twisted round on my foot and I fell down, hard, on top of my dog. These shoes have become unsafe, just through normal wear. I guess I have to keep on looking for the ideal outdoorsy slip-on shoe. This one falls short, and so did I.

Great shoes with one odd flaw.
I like the fit and feel of these shoes and would love to keep them but for one problem. The dye keeps staining the tops of my socks (see photo). I’m surprised no one else had this problem, since it occurred on two different pairs. I am very happy with all other aspects of these shoes, but this staining is something I’ve never had happen before. And it’s not just the first wearing, it had persisted through multiple wearings (I was hoping it would stop).
The Keen Targhee lll Slip On in Black are superb!
The Keen Targhee lll Slip-On (Black) is a fantastic walking/light hiking shoe! As a longtime satisfied Keen customer, I also have and love the Keen Zionic Mid hiking boots. I actually first tried the Targhee lll Slip On in Dark Brown (size 9), however I found that the particular pair I got had stained my gray socks after a few days of walking. I exchanged them for the same shoe in Black, and so far they do not exhibit that issue. The wide toe box is great, as is the overall fit and comfort level. The outsole is fantastic as well...very grippy! Highly recommended!
Nice shoes, but not for those with high insteps
These seem to be well-constructed shoes with a comfortable foot bed and wide toe box, but they are *very* tight and uncomfortable around the instep. The elasticized "tongue" of the shoe bore down on my instep with enough pressure to be painful after a while walking, and it left heavy black stains on the socks I was wearing, in the upper instep area. I'm still undecided on whether to return them or to try to "stretch" the instep area so it exerts less pressure (I'm not sure this can even be done). I like Keen shoes, but these are a disappointment so far.
Keens have become more narrow in width
I believe that Keen has changed their shoe sizing in terms of widths. Whereas I could once wear a Standard (D) width I could not make these fit even after getting a 1/2 length size larger and stretching them as much as I dared. I had a similar experience with the water sandals but they have less material and are more pliable. Other Keen retailers have confirmed my belief. I recommend that if you feet might trend wide to buy a Wide (E?) width.
Keen Targhee III slip-on
I'm generally pretty happy with these shoes. Like other Keen shoes I've owned, they feel like I've been wearing them for months right out of the box. I've had them less than a month, but can say that the feel well built and give good arch support. The sizing was a little different than other Keen products I've owned in the past. I first got a size 10 in error (my mistake rather than Keen's) and that was way big for me. I exchanged them for a 9.5 which is what I wear in other Keen shoes and they are still slightly large. I'm keeping them though because I know a 9 will be too tight. Overall, I'm very pleased with them so far.
Great Shoe - Sloppy Sizing
Most shoes I buy are size 12, occasionally a size 12.5. The Keen size 12 were pinching my toes on both feet. So, I ordered a size 13. One shoe is still pinching a toe while the other is really loose. Shoe has a nice versatile design and quality materials. Outsourcing manufacturing is fine just don’t ruin your brand with poor quality control.
The Most Comfortable Shoes I Have Ever Worn
These shoes are very comfortable, as I have foot problems due to my age and weight. They are very waterproof, have a great grip on both smooth and icy/snowy conditions.
Most comfortable, but falls apart
Recommended after a treatment of injection under ultrasound for planter fasciitis. Most comfortable shoe ever, but after a few months started separating the rubber sole from shoe. Bought 2 additional pair just for the comfortable factor so I don’t have to go thru the process of injection or surgery again. Disappointed in quality
