When my daughter commandeered my usual bag it was time to hunt for a new one. I was excited to find a rectangular shaped down bag rated for 20F. It is quite comfortable and nice, but I would call it a 2-season bag. We were camping up in Big Bear, CA on its inaugural trip last weekend and I was freezing. Temperatures dropped to the low thirties/ maybe even high twenties and the bag just did not keep any heat in. Despite also having a thick sleeping pad, I ended up sleeping in my down coat to try to fight off the cold. This is a lovely bag if you are staying in the 40-degree range but look for something else if you are hoping to use it in colder temperatures.
I just bought this bag to replace a mummy bag for my trips to the boundary waters. I am a side sleeper (5, 11" ~220 pounds) and I found it to be plenty roomy. I've slept a few nights in the bag already and have been very comfortable. At approximately 3 pounds, It isn't the latest bag out there, but I'd rather be comfortable and carry an extra pound in my pack than try to shoehorn into a mummy bag where I can't get comfortable and not sleep well. One con is that it is a down bag and doesn't come with a larger storage sack. So if you don't buy and aftermarket sack, your bag will always be some what compressed, which isn't ideal.
This was a gift for my son for scouting. After using it once or twice it was almost completely flat - the loft was basically non-existent. I had washed it according to instructions. They sent us another and we had the same problem again after one use, before even being washed. We have 4 other sleeping bags, several for 10+ years and have not had this problem with any others.
I am a geologist and typically don't deal with extremely cold temperatures, so this sleeping bag temp range is great for me. I don't like mummy bags and have had difficulties in the past finding a super warm and cozy bag that is the more traditional shape. This bag is awesome and I recommend it to all my friends who prefer rectangular bags.
I like the rectangle bag better than the mummy. I also like the very light-weight nature of it for backpacking as well as car camping. You need to put a really good pad beneath this bag to fully enjoy it. I got a Nemo with the built it pump.
