great burner for windy conditions - with care
I'd really give it 4.5 stars if I could. Its really a great little single burner, the only reason I'd take off 1/2 star is that in a cross breeze, the flame holds up well - but you have to watch the wind direction. The housing around the butane canister gets HOT fast when the cross breeze is blowing across the burner and towards the housing... So much so that I question whether there should be some type of insulation in the housing.

OK with the perfect conditions.
I travel full-time and I’ve used this stove, daily, since May 25, 2021 and, overall, I’m pretty disappointed. The best feature is it gives You a stable platform to cook on. After that, it’s hit and miss. The advertised “wind guards are useless in any breeze. Simmer setting? That just means You scorch your food at a lower setting requires co start stirring IF the breeze doesn’t blow it’s it first. I’ve built a fort around this stove and it doesn’t help. Half the time only half of the burner is working which results in very bad fuel uses. And, finally, butane fuel is getting to be very difficult to find. Conclusion. In perfect, no wind, sheltered locations, and fuel is readily available, it’s a great stove. Only recommend if those conditions are met

Butane Camp Stove

It’s a great stove. Very light and easy to take anywhere. I use it also to cook my breakfast on the patio. Very well engineered. The only con is it could use a wind screen which it does not have

It simmers!

We took advantage of our member coupon and dividends to upgrade our car camping kitchen. Our old butane stove was a cheapie and had two settings, high and higher. It was very difficult to cook decent eggs or anything that requires low heat. I tried the Eureka this morning and made a proper omelet as well as boiling water for my coffee. The stove itself is well designed and very robust. We are now thinking of the grill version…

Auto Ignition Failed

Love at first use for this little stove - very easy to load butane canister, very efficient, holds a good sized pan, cools down quickly so it can be put back in the handy carrying case, but the honeymoon was over the third time I used it when the auto ignition failed to work. Sure hope REI will make it right! Even if they don't, it's still a great stove to bring along for car camping. I hadn't camped in a while and I forgot how much fun it is to cook outside, and how nice it is to have a hot beverage super quickly on a cold morning in the mountains. Also great for picnics. I'm already thinking about how easy it will be to throw in the trunk for hot cocoa or soup after snow shoeing.

The best!

This has to be one of the best items I've purchased from REI. You can find less expensive butane stoves (I did, it worked once) but you do get what you paid for it I enjoy being able to make a hot lunch and a beverage on a one day road trip as well as breakfast and dinner while camping.

Nice stove but the aluminum burner melted

Nice stove but the burner melted after about 1/2 hour of use. Pretty disappointed.

Excellent stove for camping

Very well crafted stove for camping with friends or family. I went with butane because it is 12% more efficient than propane. The canister installs easily in seconds (no need to screw in). The stove top is removable and cleans easily. The plastic case is lightweight and is as needed for something like this. Overall, the size is great if you have a small outing (3 of us). Water boils very fast on this. I would not recommend this for larger groups or long multi-day hikes. Otherwise, this is a 5 star camp stove you can throw in the trunk of your car.

Eureka!

This little stove is the best! It’s super easy to operate (just remember to push in and turn to ignite), lightweight and easy to transport, and heats stuff super fast. Compared to propane, it’s very quiet (and easy to clean). The only drawback is the access to Eureka butane cans. I ordered a box of 4 online, but haven’t been able to find them in my area. Otherwise, a 5-star stove!

Great way of cooking, limited windproofing

Bought this in preparation for a trip out to Channel Islands National Park. While the stove works really well under normal conditions (piezo works well, burner has a wide range of settings, etc) it did suck down an enormous amount of fuel under the high-wind conditions we were experiencing and frequently needed to be re-lit during use. Considering this is the SPRK that is supposed to have the additional windproofing when compared to the standard I would have hoped for a bit more. Otherwise a great product!
