Comfortable for Working Out or Daily Use

As I have aged my feet have grown wider. That is a reason I like to buy New Balance shoes. They seem to fit my wider feet better. These are no exception. They have a very comfortable upper and a stiff, but well padded sole. The shoe has good traction. I have been using these on exercise machines and out on the street and found them to be quite good for these uses. They provide good support and comfort when I am working out or just walking around town. They are wearing quite well now and I see several years of good use from them in the future. I would buy these again when they eventually do wear out.

Worst trainers i've ever owned.

I bought these shoes after reading a couple of good reviews, they are awful, especially for the price. I've owned these trainers for around 2 months and already the support in the back is broken, fabric ripped on the inside and one shoe has loose stitching and a lump on the inside that's painful to walk on. I just can't believe after spending this much on shoes compared to previous pairs that these are the worst quality pair i've ever owned, and i only use them 1-2hours per day. Even before breaking, these shoes were far from comfortable and i can safely say this will be my first and last pair of New Balance trainers.

Great support and feel

Very happy with these shoes. The fresh foam is very noticable when wearing the shoes. It is soft and squishy but still feels substantial enough to offer good support. The rest of the upper is very comfortable. I have a pair of recent brooks glycerin, and for comparison, I would say the new balance offer a softer ride. They remind me of original nike frees but the upper holds the foot in place better but still very comfortable. I'm very happy with these shoes and would definitely recommend.

Great shoes if you need support and stability

I'm an older slightly overweight ex-runner with flat feet, recent knee surgery and plantar fasciitis. Oh, and I way over pronate. These shoes give me the support and stability I need and got me back to everyday walking for exercise. They don't weigh a ton, like many stability shoes and the fresh foam technology supports the whole foot. True to size and the fit's a little snug but not uncomfortable. I'd wear medium to light weight socks with these. Break in period was only a couple of days wearing them around the house. Shipping was fast. I'd recommend these shoes to anyone with knee/feet issues.

I am tough to fit

My feet are bizarre. Flat, wide, lots of pronation. Right is slightly wider and flatter than left. Therefore, it is difficult for me to find running shoes that give me no problems. These shoes meet that standard. They are also light. The soles are not too soft, so they encourage less pounding and better running posture. I alternate these with some highly cushioned Brooks shoes, and I am convinced this variety helps avoid knee problems. I saw comments on how these shoes wear out at the heal, but I have not experienced any wear of the unusual heal configuration.

One Star for support

I bought a pair of these for a casual shoe for my daughter's pronation and they provide her excellent support. I picked up a pair for myself to replace my 680s. First run felt flat, heavy and clompy like a pair of bad 1980s cross trainers. The heal does not hold my foot in regardless of how tight I tie them and for some reason my feet are in pain after a few hundred meters. After a damaging my calf muscle trying to run in these they are only useful for light gym work and walking. I'm still running in my old 680s and very annoyed I've wasted good money.

Great fit and support, poor lifespan

I've been using the 860 range for a while, particularly for the pronation support and the wide fit option. It's enabled me to enjoy running, particularly during the pandemic. However, after only 120km of total running with the 860v11, it's 'Ultra Heel' has completely snapped/split (not the fabric, but the stiff material inside, towards the base). This is a really disappointing lifespan considering the price tag and how the other 860 variants had lasted significantly longer. It's also saddening if you have become reliant on this once dependable range.

More comfy and stylish than I first thought

I've worn these shoes for working out and runs, and have not been disappointed. Overall comfort is great. I thought the back lip (counter lining) would be weird, but it's actually nice because it doesn't hit against the back of my ankle, which other running shoes have injured in the past. Also, super easy to remove with the lip/counter lining. I rarely purchase hard sole running shoes, but at least for shorter runs (<10) these have been pretty good. For me the shoes ran a little big. Lastly, they are more stylish in person than I would have assumed.

Stable but unstable; heel cup broken after 5 months usage.

I bought my 860v11 in October, and started using them in earnest (running 2-3 times a week) in January. I liked the combination of stability (which I need, as I am prone to overpronate) and comfort; they solved several issues that had stopped me from running in previous attempts. However, today, mid-May, I noticed the heel cup, which is a key part of the stability structure, is broken in both shoes (one completely, the other ripped half way through); I only noticed today (you cannot see it from the outside since the broken structure is covered by canvass), but I suspect it might have been like this for a while, as I had noticed that the shoes seemed less stable. I would have hoped they'd last longer, especially in such a critical part.

new balance 860, version 10 or 11

to be fair i use these trainers for anti pronation support and walking, general wear most days. at the moment i prefer the verion 10 in green/blue to the newer colours, i also and most importantly prefer the sole of the v10, but its early days. im concerned that the foam will degrade, support wise, quickly, in the new version. is there any firmer foam levels lower down in the sole to prevent pronation, i dont know. comfort is an important element in any shoe, but 860s need to be firm on the inner sides of the shoe.
