Good hybrid shell

Jacket (Medium) fit well, (I am 5' 7" and about 165lb) with an articulated fit. Enough room inside for layering. The asymmetrical zipper is a cool feature, leaving the mouth area free from obstructions when zipped up, and when partially zipped, the larger flap comfortably flops down away from the face. Movement is fine, and the wrist gaiters feel fine. Unfortunately the advertisement of "insulated" is only slightly true. The only insulation included are strategic panels around the core, with 1 main panel on the back, and 1-2 panels on each side of the zipper. Each panel doesn't even touch another panel. There is no insulation in the arms and none in the hood. If you're coming to this with the expectation of a shell with a tiny bit of insulation, its a good jacket. If you're expecting an insulated jacket, this isn't it.

686 Ski Jacket Zipper is junk

Bought this jacket 3 years ago and the zipper is junk already and will cost $153 to fix. Don't waste your money on this jacket get a Patagonia with a much better warranty. Surprised REI carries junkie jackets like this.

Love the jacket. I've worn

Love the jacket. I've worn it riding once, and wear it around a bit outside of the mountain to get a good feel for it. The main zipper snags at the bottom 99% of the time I use it. It's as if there's a secret combination of pulling some parts but not others while I'm trying to zip it up. I know this sounds silly but I have used zipper jackets for a long time and own a few, yet this takes 5 attempts to get started. Ski RFID in the sleeve worked great. Pockets all feel great and are in all the right places. Great warmth. Zipper needs some wrestling to work.

Great snowboard jacket. Very warm

Great snowboard jacket. Very warm jacket for cold weather. Easy to layer underneath. Can just wear a t-shirt under if it's too warm out and be o.k. Son loved the vader vents for the 50-60 mph gusts at the top of Mammoth. If you want the hood to fit over a snowboard helmet I would advise to go up a size. I bought size Medium for my son, 6' 120lbs and the jacket fits and looks nice, but think I'm going to order a Large so it doesn't ride up when he has the hood over his helmet. Unfortunately he wore it once, so lesson learned. Go bigger or go home!

Very warm

Have had this jacket through 3-4 Vermont ski seasons (rain, slush, ice, you name it) and it has always kept me toasty. Thumb holes are prone to tear, but otherwise I have been very satisfied with this jacket.

GLCR Hydra Thermagraph Jacket. I

GLCR Hydra Thermagraph Jacket. I just received the Hydra Thermagraph Jacket and so far it is awesome. I've only worn it around my house and while walking outside a bit, haven't been to the snow yet but it is comfy and warm in 40 degree weather. The hand gators are great, the mesh goggle holder on the inside is an awesome idea. The only problem I've had is the zipper is a little hard getting started, but that is probably because it is a waterproof zipper.

686 Men's GLCR Hydra Thermagraph:registered:

686 Men's GLCR Hydra Thermagraph:registered: Jacket. My first 686 Jacket (I own a few pants) and I love it. I was in a hurry to get out on the hill for my first day of skiing and forgot to layer. Turns out I didn't need to. The Thermagraph is not a gimmick, it really works. I left everything on for the ride home (with the heat on) and I didn't get hot. It has a very soft inside on the neck cuff which I had up for the wind. I high recommend this jacket.
