Gloves that get yhe job done.
Bought these gloves towards the end of our ski season for my son. So far they got him though a day skiing at wildcat and up the tuckermans ravine trail. Good all purpose, with room for growth.
Solid Glove, Good Price
These are a great price for what they are. Waterproofing holds up in the snow, the worn temperature range goes comfortably down to near zero, and durability holds up for most of the season. Kids have gone through several of these, but usually average 1-2 per season before a hole appears in a finger. We have tried more expensive gloves, but they wear those out as well and just as quickly, so might as well stay with these.
Did the job!
I (adult female) couldn’t find adult gloves in stock anywhere before my trip. Tried the youth large in this style and it was close enough (just a hair small in the palm, but finally a good fit in the finger length!). Used them over the weekend in about 25-35 degree skiing and never once felt the slightest bit cold. Much better than the pair I have been using for the past 10 years! Will test out the waterproofing when I go snowboarding for the first time this weekend, hopeful that they perform just as well with significantly more frequent snow contact.
excellent gloves
I've had a hard time finding ski gloves for my 8 year old as everything that I've tried was too big. These gloves saved the day - they are slightly smaller than all other brands I tried and that made all the difference. Otherwise, quality is as expected from REI branded items, mid weight warmth and the wrist leashes are very useful as well - also a rare find for kids sized ski gloves.
Good Quality Glove
These are nice, thick gloves for snow. I will say that I MUCH prefer a mitten for kids and adults for snow skiing. They keep you hands a lot warmer. So while I have no complaints on this glove if you are looking at it for skiing/snowboarding, I would suggest REI's mitten version.
not for heavy snow days
These work fine for sunny days, but not really snowy days or snow play. They were brand new and soaked through — had to buy new gloves on the mountain. We had better luck with the higher/end model from REI, with the gray trim — recommend those instead.
Kid loves them
My son always complains his gloves are cold and wet. With this pair, he never complains. And saying he doesn't need hand warmer any more.
good for cold not snow
These gloves fit my 8 year old well and seemed to be working fine until they were used in the snow. They are not very waterproof. After a few days of use the stitching inside start to come apart. I will be taking these back.
Warm on the inside, but not waterproof.
I got these for my son for Christmas. He’s a big outdoor kid and spent 4 hours playing in the ice yesterday, at will, while wearing these gloves. When he came in I was surprised to see that his gloves were wet bc I previously thought these were waterproof gloves. I asked him if his hands were cold or wet, he replied “no”. So they do keep hands warm and the inner layer remains dry while the outer fabric does get wet. As others have said, great for cold days but not for wet days.
Recommend
I got these for my son and he never once complained his hands were cold. He could move his fingers just fine.
