Complete Winter Immunity
I've owned warm winter coats before, but nothing comes close to this marshmallow of a jacket. I tend to run pretty cold and the 415g of down has kept me toasty and smiling during frigid winter days and sub-zero midnight astrophotography shoots. The bulk is absolutely worth the comfort, and I appreciate the large zipper pulls and snaps that make it easy to operate with mittens on. I can't even imagine how much warmer the big brother to this jacket is (Expedition Down Jacket - 680g fill weight). For size reference, I am 6 ft. 4 in. 190lbs. and the size Large fits me perfectly - just enough room to layer while still not inhibiting movement.
Cold here in Minnesota
Cold here in Minnesota and this is the warmest jacket I have ever own. I wore this jacket with only a thin shirt in -23F weather and it kept me warm. I am 5'11" 205 and I bought a XL which fits perfect with some room for layers.
Super warm, super cool
I live in Chicago and this jacket is Polar Vortex proof! It's incredibly warm. I typically get cold very easily and find myself layering with every jacket I own until I picked up THIS beast. I now often wear just a shirt under the jacket or a light layering piece when the temps drop to single digits. Buying items insulated with goose down is also out of my norm because I intend on spending considerable amount of time outdoors and I worry about the fill getting wet but Fjallraven ingeniously designed the jacket with synthetic fill reinforcements at the shoulders so it keeps me warm when I'm caught in a wet snow. It's also super stylish and I get a lot of compliments, win-win.
Very Warm Jacket
Amazingly warm jacket. Wore in -15 degrees, and didn't need an underlayer
Good cold jacket.
My wife and I bought Eddie Bauer down jackets 27 years ago. We went to Yellowstone for a winter trip with minus 53 degrees and several snownmobile all day trips at minus 20 and the jackets kept us warm. For many years we have tried to find something comparable to replace them to no avail. We keep wearing those Eddie Bauer even though they look shabby. Seems like the quality has gone downhill. Then I found this jacket for men and got the small which fits my wife perfectly. And most of all it really works in cold weather.
Like a Canada Goose but better
I froze this winter in Park City, UT especially when the temp was hovering around zero. This parka changed that all. It is big and bulky but does not feel like that at all, it sits and wears no bigger than a standard puffy down coat. The fact that it is basically two down coats sewn together creates an air pocket in between them that will keep you warm in the coldest of temperatures. Another plus is that it is available in a heavier version for colder climates and it is about half the cost of a bougie Canada Goose, so save some money, stay warm, and look good in this bad boy.
Fjallraven men expedition coat
This is the third coat i purchased from Fjallraven company. I have not been disappointed with it product of high quantity. The expedition coat is very warm and comfortable but a little "puffy".
Handled Subarctic Canada Brilliantly
After extensive research on several different down jackets, I purchased the Fjallraven Expedition Lite specifically for a trip to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories in early March. I was out late at night on one occasion when the temperature bottomed out at -30F, not counting wind chill. The Expedition Lite kept my core perfectly warm with two light base layers beneath. I'm not crazy about hoods, and will only use one when the cold becomes unbearable. However, when I did resort to using the hood on my Expedition Lite, it provided substantial immediate warmth to my head. I also really like the zipper on this jacket; it's heavy duty and durable. I'm very pleased with this choice. Don't let the word "Lite" fool you--this thing is a beast.
Warm and toasty
The parka is excellent I was out in subfreezing temps with just a shirt under the parka and I was fine one of the best values for winter gear.
