Great at the end of a long backpacking day.
SO HAPPY WITH THE UPDATED RECIPES!!! As an avid outdoor adventurer with food allergies I found it really hard to find dehydrated meals that didn't have soy in them. Mountain house has stopped using soy protein in their meals (or at least these ones), so I can finally enjoy a convenient and hearty easy to pack meal. I would recommend bringing a few tortillas (remember guys everything good in life can be eaten in a tortilla) and turning them into burritos or a small amount of hot sauce. Only thing to be wary of is that sometimes the largest pieces of chicken don't fully rehydrate, but I kind of like it that way, a tiny bit crispy

Mediocre and under-spiced
This doesn't taste anything like a fajita bowl: No marinated meat, no seared onions or peppers, and no salsa flavors. It tastes (and looks) like a simple, under-spiced bean and chicken burrito that someone ran through a blender, and then added a bit of cayenne pepper and a number of corn kernels that dominate the overall flavor. It's edible, but not particularly good if you're hoping for something approximating a fajita bowl.

Filling and well-rounded meal but a bit salty

After a strenuous first night and a hectic camp setup, the Fajita Bowl provided the well-rounded meal that I always strive for (meat, veggies, carbs), and it paired well with a tortilla that I steamed up in my pot with a tiny bit of water, and an even better addition if you can swing it is an avocado sliced in half with some lime juice dripped into it. Delicious. But that said, this meal is full of sodium and pretty salty (which makes the avocado and tortilla even more essential).

Tasted good, easy to prepare, weighs nothing.

Dense carbs that kept us fueled on the trail.

One of my top choices while backpacking!

Wonderful backpacking meal for folks who love fajitas/bell peppers/onions! The chicken didn't reheat well (which always seems to happen with freeze-dried chicken tbh), otherwise it had great flavor and texture. It had some spice but wasn't insanely spicy for a Minnesotan with low spice tolerance. I added an olive oil packet to get it up to 686 cal with no adverse effects.

Pleasantly surprised and satisfied

Just tried the Chicken Fajita Bowl. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. It was actually so good that I hope Mountain House will release this in #10 cans. Great job Mountain House.

Favorite from MH

This is my favorite Mountain House meal. We brought along a pack of tortillas and used this as filling, and it was everyone’s favorite dinner on the trail.

Hits the spot

My husband and I enjoyed this a lot while on the CDT. We had tortillas to spare so we used them to make burritos with this meal—highly recommend it!
