When you need your instant coffee to actually be instant...

This stove is FAST, which is great when you're super hungry, the wind is blowing and you'd like to eat a meal sometime today. It's super convenient and lightweight enough. It boils water hilariously fast. If I had my way, MSR would make a nesting alpine bowl type thingy for it so I could use it as a steamer/double boiler. Get to work on that, MSR! :) Guess I might need to get a 2.5 liter pot to be able to do that. The 1.7 liter that we have is an ideal size for two people, and the stove and a large canister nest nicely inside.

Always a winner

I've had several reactors over the years and there's a reason I keep buying another when I need to replace one. I've always used the 1.7L pot and loved it. I do wish MSR would make a pot adapter(like Jetboil does) to cook with a frying pan(or other standard pot) on the Reactor. I keep checking back to see if they've made it yet... That would make the Reactor the ultimate one-burner stove kit.

Good Stove

My first MSR product. Great stove water boils instantly. Don't try to simmer...just not possible. Recently had trouble with burner not glowing red and just getting a blue flame. Packs fairly well, but wish MSR would consider making a mini or smaller version of the same technology for the solo backpacker. It would take up less space, be lighter, and still boil water like nothing else.

Is there a stainless steel pot or titanium

I am very skeptical about Aluminium. It seems the inner of the pot deteriorates fast, I can see circles inside the pot with no longer coating ...at all ? (though I use a smooth silicone spoon....). the pot has been babied by me so I'd rather find a stainless steel pot than buy another aluminium one. can MSR build Stainless Steel pots ?

Really fast boiling and easy to use

I have had this stove for around 7-9 years. It has held up outstandingly. It boils water way faster than normal jetboils and everyone that has seen me use it is impressed at its speed. It is easy to set up, light, control, and put away. The only problem is that the handle has popped off but it is an easy fix

Best cookware!

We took this Reactor on our hike on the PCT. Maybe it is a Little bit heavier than other cooking Systems, but you need much less gas than with other Systems and so the total weight of your gear can be reduced. And the water is hot within seconds! We would buy it always again!

great product

Great stove for boiling water. Only thing it seems it could be designed so that the burner and fuel can fit in the pot a little better. If everything is not just right the lid will not close or be latched. However it is my new favorite stove for backpacking

Lid replacement impossible to find

The whole set works great. I just recently lost the lid and it is impossible to find a replacement. I don't want to repurchase the whole set since I'm missing the most inexpensive part of it. I hope they can fix this soon so I can keep using their set

Great stove

The reactor stove has always been the best in my view. Quick boil times and I just looks amazing. I, like other reviewers would like to see a ceramic option for the pan as i don’t like cooking with aluminium. I’d love to see a Skillet option too.

big enough for group of 6

I bought this pot for a ski touring trip in Chile. Others brought another stove along and were still waiting for it to boil as I was pouring everyone hot coffee in the morning. Great size to weight ratio.
