Revised version is awful.

Awful. The new revised version is terrible. The collar is SO stiff and cumbersome, especially if you have a hoodie on underneath. Be prepared to feel like you’re wearing a neck brace. The fit has also changed, my previous version of the beta ar was perfect, this one pulls on the shoulders and the sleeves are shorter. Very uncomfortable overall which is shocking for a shell. Will absolutely be returning. Bring back to older version.

Hello there, thank you for sharing such detailed feedback on the revised Beta AR Jacket. We’re truly sorry to hear that the updated fit and collar design caused discomfort, especially since your previous Beta AR worked so well for you. We understand how disappointing it can be when changes to a trusted product don’t align with your expectations, and we recognize the importance of freedom of movement and layering comfort in a technical shell. Your comments about the collar stiffness, shoulder fit, and sleeve length are invaluable, and we’ll ensure they are passed along to our design team as they continue to refine future iterations. We appreciate your honesty and the time you took to let us know, your perspective helps us improve.

DropHood Surprised Me — Function Over Look!

The Beta AR is a very solid waterproof shell. I really like all the features it comes with, and it performs well across a range of conditions. It’s versatile, dependable, and clearly built to last. I had read reviews mentioning how crunchy and loud the fabric is, and didn’t think it would bother me, but honestly, it was the first thing I noticed when I tried it on! That said, I don’t mind it at all, I’d much rather have a jacket that’s noisy but keeps me dry and holds up over time than something quiet that compromises on durability. I was unsure about the look of the DropHood at first (still not totally sold on the aesthetic), but I’ve come to really appreciate how it functions. When layering multiple hoods, it’s noticeably less bulky around the neck and offers way better visibility when the hood is up. Overall, a great shell with thoughtful design and reliable performance, even if it’s a bit loud.

my go-to jacket in Vancouver

I use this product for hikes and long walks in the rain. It is very flexible and comfortable to wear! the insulation/waterproofing is great as it keeps me very warm. I also like that I dont feel "sticky" after long walks because the material is so breathable.

Keeps you dry

Excellent in keeping me dry in deluge downpour! Would recommend. I have a small size and seams to be slightly large.

Hello there, thank you for sharing your feedback on the Beta AR Jacket. We really appreciate it. We hear you on the StormHood and the full-feature set of the Beta SV. These design elements are definitely valued by many, and we understand how important they are to your experience. There are a few key differences between the Beta AR and Beta SV that reflect their intended uses. The Beta AR ("All Round") features a helmet-compatible DropHood, designed to provide full coverage while maintaining peripheral vision through a precision adjustment system. The Beta SV ("Severe Weather") was built for more extreme conditions, which is why it includes additional reinforcements, the StormHood, and expanded pocketing. If you're specifically looking for a StormHood, we recommend checking out the Beta Jacket, which includes one, or the Beta SL Jacket, which features a helmet-compatible StormHood as well. Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts. Feedback like yours helps guide future product decisions, and we’ll be sure to pass it along to our design team. https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/shop/womens/beta-jacket-0514 https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/shop/womens/beta-sl-jacket-0020
