I am 5'11" and 155 lbs so fairly lanky. However, I recently discovered I have wide seat bones. I've been biking for about 7 years and my soft tissue always got so sore after big rides. Bikes were painful! Now I forget I am even on a saddle. It's a MIRACLE PEOPLE. I cannot say enough good things. Biking is the best. I am so happy and so free. I just finished a 10 day mtn bike trip and I feel great! I got on my road bike at home which has a regular width saddle and wanted to die. Time for a second saddle!
I'm only 5' 4" and 130-135 lb, but my backside is fairly wide and flat; not a lot of padding there. My sit bones are too far apart to tolerate the saddles that come on most major brands of bikes. (One exception was the WTB Pure saddle that came with my Priority Apollo gravel bike. Love it.) This Ergon SMC was my attempt to find something similar to the Pure, and bingo. It's even more comfortable, in that way where you completely forget about your saddle. Ladies, more padding is not more comfortable. If you can't find a seat that works for you on long rides, try one that's flatter and wider.
Fit great for 180 lb curvy woman
I bought this seat for me wife. I really thought this one had the right balance of dimensions for her size, ability and age. I got the MD / LG size, but I think this one was too big for her, because the bottom of seat was "working on her pelvic bone". She also thought the seat was for someone in better shape, ie; she thought there was not enough cushion. The seat seems to have plenty of surface area, but it is really designed to be stiffer for better power transfer. We exchanged this one and got seat with a just a little more "Cush", and a little more rounded at the base of seat at the pelvic interface. She is happy with the compromise. We are grateful for the REI return policy.
I love my womens Ervin seat. I have tried several others and this one is by far the best. Simple design and fits perfectly.
I'm a guy and this fits me perfect. I tried the mens version first and it was way too wide/big. also I have small frame, go figure.
Comfortable for gravel bike no pain
