It's a must for the Ortlieb 6 Handlebar bag
Certain bikes will (like mine) need this mounting bracket in order to use the Ortlieb Handlebar bag. Pros: I like it because it allows me to use a handlebar bag when nothing else would work. The locking mechanism works well to keep the bag securely on the handlebars (tho the bag itself doesn't lock closed so there's nothing to prevent someone reaching into the bag and taking what they want). Cons: it's *difficult* to install. Also, because of how far the bag now protrudes from the handlebars--at least six inches--it drastically changes the center of balance for the front end of your bike, causing my bike to fall over several times before I learned to prevent that by balancing things better while it's parked. Lastly, it's very expensive. But if you need it, you need it (and Ortlieb reflects this in their pricing, I believe).
Secure and Easy to Mount
After reading reviews I thought it would be a little harder to mount. I double and triple checked before cutting off the excess cable. Even with all that it only took 15 minutes to mount using a 4mm Allen wrench and a wire cutter. The mount is rock solid. I’m
rock solid over many bike tours
I bought this back in 2014 and have the same one on. I’ve ridden to Quebec and through Norway, Turkey, Thailand, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Tunisia with this klickfix. It has never caused me an issue…ever.
Works as it should just follow install instruction
Works great, just make sure you actually follow the instructions (pictures) exactly and you shouldn't have any issues with the cable being too loose etc... By the way, the cables are now not black, but grey!
