As others have mentioned, the pillow has a strong offputting chemical smell. I first washed the cover to get rid of it, but as it turns out, the foam cushion is the culprit of the foul smell. I just let it aerate and left it on top of my dresser, and after two to three days, the smell was gone. Another issue people have encountered is the difficulty of putting in its stuff sack. I personally fold it along the long side and then roll it. Using this method, I can stuff it in less than 15 seconds. The pillow is extremely comfortable, and I highly recommend it to anyone currently on the market for a lightweight pillow. The only two kinds of people who would not like this product: 1) Ultralight backpackers looking to shave ounces and save space since this pillow is slightly heavy and relatively big inside its stuff sack. I would recommend the Fillow Elite to you guys. 2) broad-shouldered side sleepers since this pillow is only 3-4 inches thick when fully inflated and, in that state, very stiff even with the foam. Another factor to consider is that the pillow cover material changes with your purchase color. The orange pillow feels much rougher compared to the velvety and comforting feel of the grey and blue covers.

This pillow is: 1) TINY. fully inflated it’s not bigger than a ream of printer paper so imagine trying to use a ream of printer paper for a pillow. 2) SLIPPERY. it’s got a nylon-esque backing that ensures that there’s no way it’s going to stay in place on your sleeping mat. You’ll be chasing it around ALL NIGHT. 3) OVERPRICED. I bought the hype and also the pillow; let ME have the buyer’s remorse FOR YOU because seriously there are WAY cheaper inflatable “pillows” at your local Big Box Store that are 100% no worse than this overpriced piece of nonsense. USELESS. I ended up using my PACK as a pillow, which, while not even REMOTELY comfortable, was STILL more comfortable than trying to sleep on this overgrown dinner napkin, which I still had to tote around for the entire 13 day backpacking trip. ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A CUSHION TO USE ON THE WINDOW OF THE AIRPLANE SO YOU CAN NAP ON YOUR WAY TO EUROPE? This might work nicely. But as a so-called backpacking pillow that is supposed to help you get a decent night’s sleep after hiking for 8 hours so that you can wake refreshed and hike another 8 hours the next day? No. Just. Seriously. No. PS: also, the other reviewers are absolutely right- it definitely does NOT fit easily back into its attached stuff sack.

Fold to fit in stuff sack

I've used this pillow on several backpacking trips and on airplanes and I love it. The fabric is very comfortable and the air bladder doesn't squish around to much. To use the stuff sack, remove the stuff sack from inside of the pillow. Fold the pillow in thirds along its length, then fold in half. Pull the stuff sack inside-out over the folded pillow. It's actually pretty easy once you figure out how to do it. It doesn't have a pad strap, but there's a loop on one end and the stuff sack tag on the other end so you can add a shock cord strap.

Doesn't work the best for side sleepers.

As others have said, it's quite smelly. I've used it for 3 nights so far, it's really comfortable if you sleep on your back, it feels like an actual pillow with the foam layer. I tossed and turned one night trying to get comfortable on my side and I just couldn't, I don't think I have very wide shoulders either. When fully inflated it's just not tall enough for side sleepers and since it is half air it's not like you can fold it up to get more height. I will probably still keep it as it's a nice pillow but might have to stack some clothes the next time I use it. It also has an internal stuff sack so you just flip it out and stuff it back in.

Best of both worlds

I personally really like this pillow and everything it has to offer. I have struggled finding a balance between a bulky pillow that are comfortable and light weight ones that I find are just not comfortable. The mix of foam and air and the materials used are very comfortable and have finally provided a comfortable pillow that is also light and small. The pillow size and weight are pretty small but not the lightest nor the smallest compaired to some others. If you are like me and value both packability and comfort, I strongly recommend this pillow.

Might work for you but not for me

I bought this partly because the reviews were good. I think we all just have different heads or something, because I find it a little thin, which leaves my head at the wrong angle. I've also decided, after a couple other similar products, that I just don't like blow-up pillows. So if neither of those things bother you, then ignore me and read other reviews, for sure. Oh, one last thing: I can't for the life of me figure out how to stuff this in itself, as advertised — so from an ease-of-use perspective, I gots to say it's not. I gave up and I just leave it inflated. It sits in my Jeep now and I use it for my arm (I'm a side sleeper); it works pretty well for that.

Stinky foam

These pillows are so comfortable. It's really hard for me to give it such a bad score because they stink.... so bad.... Why on earth they use a foam that emits such a disgusting smell. Makes no sense because other than that these pillows are a 10 out of 10... They fold up super small. They're really comfortable but I let the foam sit out for so long to try and air it out. I had it for weeks and it's still smelled. And it's pretty hot in the summertime I guess. So I wouldn't say it's completely faultless it's also smoking hot when it's warm out due to the foam but it's also benefit when it's cold out so I guess it depends how are you using it.

The only camping pillow I'll ever need

After having another inflatable pillow (to be unnamed) this was a huge upgrade and really allowed for a much more comfortable sleeping experience. The extra layer of foam adds a huge amount of plushness without being bulky. With the air chamber it is easy to fill with just one or two breaths and easily adjusts from very firm to soft. Moving around on the pillow or rolling over doesn't make much disturbance and doesn't sound like you're rustling a bag of potato chips like some other pillows. Would recommend, it packs down into the built in stuffsack, it's light, comfortable, and makes all the difference in a good night's sleep.

My Favorite Backcountry Pillow So Far!

Love this pillow. I am a side sleeper and I found this pillow has enough height and the foam and fabric elements help to make it feel like a legit pillow. I also dig the Koi color scheme. One tip, do not try to stuff sack this pillow. It does not pack down that well and you are better off either putting the pillow at the bottom of your pack so it is compressed or orient it vertical along the back of your pack as extra padding. I did take one star off, because Nemo should remove the attached stuff sack and instead use that wait to a create a pad strap. It would keep the pillow locked in place and actually be useful vs. a useless stuff sack and slipper back.

My favorite camping/travel pillow

I've tried quite a few camping pillows, and haven't found one I truly like until I found the Nemo Fillo Pillow. Unlike other inflatable pillows, it doesn't have nearly as much balloon feeling as the others. The foam padding makes more difference that I would have thought. I actually use it about 1/2 inflated and then can shape it how I want, a little bit like a feather pillow. My only niggle is the material on the back, which has a little bit of a plasticy feel and can make some crinkling sound, but it's not bad. The top is very soft. After years of looking for a good camping and travel pillow, I finally feel like I've found one that works well.

Doesn't hold up over time

This is the second time I've purchased this pillow and the second time that it has fallen apart. The first was an old model with a strap on the back which snapped within a month after purchase and very little use. The second time was after about 9 months of periodic heavy use where the pillow began to tear at the seam. It's a shame because it's so comfy, very portable, and I've taken it all over the world with me (Sudan, Uganda, South Sudan, Europe, China...). I've used it on boats, kayaks, planes and long car rides. I will probable still buy it because I love it that much, I just wish it was more durable.
