REI over Neighborhood Bike Shop and Buying Online
This bike represents a great value over the neighborhood bike ship. I saved a $1,000. And it beats buying online at a comparable price because you get face to face assistance from REI staff who are experienced in their field; and you can bring your bike to the shop in the store during the first year for free tweaks and adjustments.
Best bike I have ever bought!
The bike take the stress off the knees on large hills and makes riding enjoyable while still getting exercise.
Electra Townie Go! 7D Electric Bike
I am 78 years old and weigh 150 lbs with one bad knee. I could no longer climb the Dunwoody Hills on my 21 speed bike and had to get off and push up. This bike helped me go up all the hills without too much stress on my Knee. Batter life is excellent with up to 4 hours per charge. I do like the 3 choices for help from the motor only when pedaling. You can ride the bike on a flat with no motor and it rides like a regular bike. The only negative is the battery is over the rear wheel and makes the center of gravity much higher. If you have to make a quick stop on a downhill slope with a road tilt one way or the other, you can easily fall over because of the extra weight. I avoid this by going slow at all downhill intersections. Some times other drivers don't see you at the intersection and can cut you off. That is when stopping needs to be quick. Overall, great bike and I would buy it again.
Defective front wheel - arrived bent
Assembled bike and noted it had a dented, bent wheel. Went on line chat September 1 requesting a replacement wheel. After suggesting a 3 hour drive to the nearest REI store, rep said someone would call of email me. Still waiting for a follow up. My credit card was charged promptly.
Electra townie 7D
Beat value for the buck! Great starter e-bike. Trek family e-bike, has great stats compaired to the Ghost, for a thousand less. 20-50 mile range compaired, 20-30 miles. Top speed is 20 mph compaired to 19.9. Only time will tell on, how compaired they are when, it comes down to reliability and maintenance. So far, so good!
Loving my new Electra Townie Go E Bike
I have always been a big fan of Electra bikes and this is the 4th one I have owned, but it is my first electric bike. For my every day use, this has been a perfect choice. I use it primarily on paved city bike paths and sidewalks. The pedal assist levels and battery range are more than adequate for the Virginia Beach area. The bikes upright riding position combined with the flat foot geometry are perfect for this 78 year old biking enthusiast. REI’s service was—as always—top notch. The bike was correctly tuned (derailleur, disc brakes, etc.) when I picked it up at the store and the bike technician was able to answer all the questions I had. In summation, I wish I had opted for an e bike years ago, You can never go wrong with REI and Electra.
Big Bike For The Money
When compared to similar E-bikes this model is an excellent value. At 27.5 inches it may be too large for some riders. At 5"9' it's a big bike for me. My only dislike are two exposed electric wires I'd rather not see. But it's a minor detail. Other E-bikes I've see run the wires inside the frame. So far I've experienced fast charging and the controls are easy enough once you get used to them. I'd prefer not having to look down and have the motor controls more intuitive but also not abig deal. It really is an excellent entry-level E-bike. Happy Customer. Do your own research on the bike and don't rely on the sales staff. I had lots of questions and wanted to compare the bike to others at REI and the sales staff was miffed. Some admitted they had no product training on this model and another said he could help and started searching the internet for answers to my questions after the manager said he could help. No help!
Nice well made e-Bike!
Fun, high quality bike. The pedal assist isn’t overpowering so you still get a workout. But it doesn’t provide a throttle so won’t work without pedaling.
Fun riding bike
Very fun to ride, with or without assist. A little heavy in the rear end with the battery in. Easy to use.
Great bikes!
Awesome bikes and so much fun to ride electric bikes in our hilly neighborhood! Both my husband and I purchased these in the summer of 2020 and we are getting lots of use out of them.
