- Composite EPP foam, EPS foam puck and polycarbonate shell construction enhance durability
- Rotational motion can cause brain injuries; with MIPS, a low-friction layer slides 10 to 15mm in all directions, reducing rotational motion to the brain during impact
- Low-profile suspension system offers a comfortable fit
- Integrated clips make it easy to securely attach a headlamp (headlamp not included)
- Removable, reversible hook-and-loop pads add customizable comfort

Thin Liner Cracking after about 20 days of use
This is a very expensive helmet compared to others available. But it is among the lightest and is reportedly the safest with MIPS. I'm never aware of it being on my head. It is close fitting and doesn't restrict my vision in any direction, The fit adjustment is a bit fussier than the Petzl knurled knob requiring frequent removal of the helmet until the right fit is found. And after two weeks in San Vito lo Capo, Sicily I agree with others that the black color is too hot. The big issue I have is that after less than about twenty days usage the yellow liner is cracking in several places. It is cracked completely through in one spot and, with each use, seems to develop another crack. At the rate the yellow liner is deteriorating the helmet will soon lose its MIPS ability and the padding attached to it.
Uncomfortable helmet with pokey bits
Bought the vision-mips helmet in size s/m to replace my beloved ice blue vapor helmet. It was ok initially but after 1-2 wears the plastic mips layer shifts and wants to create this fold that pokes right into my temple. No fun to be on a multipitch wondering why you have a splitting headache, only to realize it’s your helmet, and then you have to futz around with it. It also feels loose on my head because of the shifting plastic and is uncomfortable for long wears, even without the weird fold. I’m planning on replacing it
Excellent helmet, but not perfect.
After a few trips, I really enjoy the weight and fit of the helmet, it is comfortable and the added protection from MIPS seems well worth it. My only complaint is that when being used with ski mountaineering, the helmet has a tendency to shift forward on my head because there is not fixed attachment between the rear straps and the adjustable band. It did a small complaint but I guess the trade-off for a light helmet. Goggles do help this on the descent but in the skin track it can be annoying at times.
Best climbing helmet
This is such a good climbing helmet. Fits well and has mips. Just wish they had more colors. The shell gets really hot in the sun.
Mixed feelings
Functionality wise, it's a 10...amazing. Very light, super comfortable fit great looks. There are 2 noticable downsides. 1) It is incredibly fragile, after 4 days of use (while trying to take good care of it, so....not hard use) it has multiple scratches and blemishes, and maybe a small dent or 2. Nothing that impact performance, but still... 2) The opening/closing/tightening mechanism is a tad finicky. When it works, it's great, but sometimes the left side will stick a bit before ratcheting down. Other than this, it's a really nice helmet! Overall, I would recommend
Super Light and Comfy
A great fitting helmet that's super lightweight and breathable, cant event tell you have it on
Fits large
Seems like this is a helmet that is lightweight and well ventilated but cannot use as the fit is too big for me. The size range indicates my measurements (54-55 cm) to be within parameters, however, it slides forward over my eyes when cinched down to minimum. Would work in winter while wearing a beanie but I want a helmet for all seasons. MIPS technology has been in use with ski and bike helmets but is limited in number of climbing helmets available at this time. I am returning the BD Vision MIPS and looking to try others in the hope of a truer fit.
Ski mountaineering dream!
This helmet may not be ski rated, but it has mips and the impact from an alpine climbing tumble is similar to skiing. Some websites had this as being rated for ski mountaineering, BD itself doesn’t not. But I feel confident that it will protect me from ski impacts. I love this helmet for ski mountaineering and touring because it is so light and comfortable I put it on in the morning and never touch it again. One less thing to worry about in transition! I put a mesh, billed hat under it and apply or remove hoods for temp control. I am converting friends and touring partners away from resort oriented ski helmets to alpine and climbing helmets with mips like this one. If it had a visor and the harness adjust was a bit easier with gloves, it would be perfect
Nice helmet
No complaints on this helmet. Super comfortable and it has MIPS tech in it. I wear it all day long and have no issues with it. It’s black but I haven’t had any issues with it feeling hot on my head. Great company and great helmet.
This Helmet Makes Me Feel Safe
This helmet is very light and while climbing I don’t even notice it on my head. The protection it provides with the new MIPS and foam shell also gives me the piece of mind that my brain will be protected in case of an impact. While I haven’t hit my head yet, I feel safer while leading and belaying. Lastly, I think the helmet is fairly comfortable, while climbing it’s great, but when belaying for me it does put a small amount of pressure on my forehead.
