Compression fit - WILL NOT slide on, twist, & lock
These will slide onto the end of the pole, yet they WILL NOT twist, and lock into place. The Passage Print Trekking Poles have a two pin, male, locking feature. These baskets are not made with a corresponding feature. They can only be installed by sliding them on to the end of the pole and then pushing them up as far as you can hoping the touch the bottom of locking feature. It is only a compression fit.
They do what they are made to do
I have used these snow baskets on my Trekking poles. They are durable, fit snugly, they do the job they were designed to do and I have’t lost any. I had broken over regular wear and tear. But they last more than most. I saw a review with 2 stars. After reading it and evaluating his uploaded pictures, with all due respect he is either reviewing the wrong item or needs to know his own equipment comparability. Either way it seems he knew to gain more knowledge on his one gear. I have different brand trekking poles and I use this basket on most of them. Some of the brands I have used this basket include, Black Diamond, Leki, Cascade, REI co-op and other generic ones. Basically if you trekking poles have flex tips, these baskets will work.
Fit Leki, Black Diamond, and newer REI
These are threaded. They fit my 15 year old Leki poles, and in the store I checked they fit Black Diamond. They of course fit REI poles, but some older REI poles and others have tabs and twist lock system and this style doesn’t fit that design. They are a stiff but slightly flexible plastic. Can’t comment on how they will hold up in the cold as I just purchased them.
Works!
Seem to do what they're supposed to do. I put them on a pair of REI brand Traverse poles with the twist locks for changing baskets. These guys don't have the little notches cut out to be compatible with that system so I just had to jam them on. They do hold securely enough so no complaints.
Fit great on Leki Poles
Fit perfect on my Leki trekking poles to use for winter. I had another cheaper brand and they kept falling off, but the REI ones lasted all season. Make sure you push them back until they reach the threads, then starts twisting.
Suitable temp replacement for Komperdell pole
Bought as economical replacement for Komperdell articulating baskets, after losing the original in deeper snow. Not intended to be an in kind manufacturers replacement but fit and did the trick to get us back in action at a good price. Did not lock into place but fit / friction was tight enough to stay in place.
Worked great with older style lock on pole
I lost my snow baskets for my older rei brand trekking poles and I couldn’t find any seemingly with the same style of lock. All of the new poles use a screw type lock. I will tell you these will worked great. Nice and wide. Wild how well they work.
These don't snag in brush!
Just what I was looking for. My other snow baskets have more scalloped perimeters and invariably snag on willows as I'm skiing along ... sometimes really yanking my arm or otherwise causing loss of balance. If you're BC skiing or snowshoeing through brushy areas, these are just the ticket. Got a set for my husband as well. Easy to put on, nice snug fit.
Not what I was looking for
Went looking for baskets for my black diamonds. They were sold out everywhere. An associate told me that another customer had figured out that the rei brand would fit my poles. No complaints.
Does not fit REI Flash Carbon poles
Check with REI before buying. I contacted REI after discovering they did not fit, but received no response :-(
