Pretty good bag
In general I like this bag a lot, especially for the price. I’ve had it for ~2 years now and its held up to a lot of hiking, climbing, and scraping over rocks with no visible wear and tear. The main pocket opens wide enough that it’s easy to pack and unpack, and a 3L hydration bladder fits in the back pocket. It’s comfortable to carry, although I do wish it was slightly shorter for a perfect fit. However, there are a few seemingly minor things that I wish were different almost every time I use this pack - REI product designers if you’re listening, throw us a bone! 1. The two vertical webbing straps on the front of the bag near the top - these are almost useless to me. Why do they have sliders instead of buckles?? Trying to thread a coil of rope or a puffy jacket carefully through both straps because they don’t have buckles to quickly undo them is frustrating. It also means you can’t attach something like a pair of shoes to them without a separate carabiner. It would be nice if the straps above the water bottle pockets and the ones on the bottom of the bag had buckles too... 2. On the side with the single bottle pocket, the pocket mesh needs to come up higher. If the bag is more than 1/2 full sometimes a liter sized bottle will work its way out of the pocket randomly. I usually use the double pocket because it’s deeper. 3. There’s a mesh pocket on the inside of the bag but only on one side, a pocket on the other side would be nice too! 4. There needs to be a little space to stash or fold the hydration pouch hook into when you’re not using it. It gets caught on stuff frequently, and it also drives me nuts sometimes because it bounces against the back of the bag when you walk and makes a clicking sound right behind your head. I thought I was going crazy until I figured out it was coming from inside my backpack. 5. A big outside front mesh pocket between the daisy chains like the one on the Trail 40 would be amaaaazing. It’s nice to have a place to put stuff like sunscreen that you need to grab quickly and don’t want to fall all the way to the bottom of the bag.

Perfect except for 2 problems, I hope REI updates
This bag was the perfect fit, perfect comfort, perfect size, and loved the color (burnt orange) BUT...,,there are 2 flaws in the design that I really really hope REI fixes for the next release: 1) The top has pockets on the outside and the inside which makes it very bulky and top-heavy, meaning it ends up folding over on itself when you unzip main compartment because there's nothing in the middle or bottom of the front of the pack to balance out the top-heavy compartments 2) There's no front mesh stuff panel which could have been included easily to make this the ideal pack. PLEASE include a front mesh panel that snaps close like gregory packs have for the next version and I will be sure to buy it!

I found my perfect day pack

I have to say I was a little nervous about getting this backpack initially especially when it was on a special but I found it is actually is the first backpack in money that actually fits my torso as a shorter woman. If you're looking for something that it's a short person and is comfortable around the waist and shoulders this is backpack for you. I have searched for years to find one that fits me and this is the first one actually fit and I am excited about getting it out on the trail and using it. It's the perfect size for a lightweight puffy jacket, raincoat, first aid and emergency supplies along with water bottles in the side pockets and snacks and food on the inside.

Comfortable and Functional

This is a great backpack that doesn't break the bank and is both comfortable and functional. I have only used this for day hikes so far and it performs really well. I particularly like how the side mesh pockets are secure enough to hold my water bottle. It has enough space to store my camera, a small tripod, keys, wallet, and clothing without any problem. I like the waist strap, however, I do find the upper strap oddly positioned (probably due to my size). The zip pocket on the lid can get a bit top heavy if you decide to store your things there which can make opening the backpack itself a little unbalanced. These are just minor things. Overall, I enjoy using this backpack and I will be using it for a long time.

Best hiking day pack!

I've had this backpack since 9/2019 and have taken it on a wide variety of adventures. I have brought it with me on weekly summer/fall hikes in CO, taken it to the beach, worn it while skiing, and used it as my carry-on item. The pack itself has proven to be very durable throughout all of this and hasn't shown much wear. The internal frame distributes weight well and the 25L capacity is perfect for when you need to bring multiple layers. I also find the hydration pack system to be really convenient! It fits my Osprey 3L bladder. The hook isn't super necessary to suspend the bladder; the bladder sits upright in the pouch. Would wholeheartedly recommend!

BEST 1st Daypack Purchase

I absolutely love this daypack. It has done well in ALL of my hiking adventures despite the weather. Was even able to pack lunch and fit in some layers for winter hiking. I also love that you can strap your trekking poles or other items you may need for your hike on the outside of the pack. I usually do 5-10 mile hikes but was impressed that it felt so comfortable in a 15-20 mile day. When making my purchase decision, it was difficult to decide between this one and one that came with a hydration bladder. Decided to go with this one since I already had a 3L hydration bladder. I decided on this one because it came with a rain cover.

Straps and pockets

This pack could use more pockets on the outside of the bag to make things easily accessible while walking. It also seems that there are so many straps hanging off the bag that were just kind of annoying and not easily tucked away. This packed served me well on a recent trip to Sedona Arizona I could easily fit in my layers extra clothes, snacks, and plenty of water for my day long hikes and would recommend it. I do wish the womens version came in more colors like the mens’ model. Women’s model comes only in black and pale green which are not nearly not nearly as much fun as the men’s red and blue. I want to love my oack but hate that its black.

Love this pack

Bought this pack as an upgrade to my Flash 18 for a trip to Yosemite/Kings Canyon/Sequoia. Couldn’t be happier. Enough room for all my hiking gear including 2.5L water bladder, hydro flask, lunch bag, jacket, sunscreen, wallet, keys, etc with room to spare yet doesn’t feel too big or bulky. Super comfortable as well. My only complaint is not having enough inside pockets, simply bc I put a LOT of stuff in here and would like to keep a bit more organized. I bought both the black and green color bc I was having a hard time deciding... ended up keeping the green and couldn’t be happier with that choice. It’s a beautiful grayish green that goes with literally everything. Got a ton of compliments on it too. Overall highly recommend for the perfect blend of fashion and function!

Nice starter pack

This is my first actual hiking backpack and I'm really happy with it. The color is beautiful and it has plenty of space for a day trip or an overnight. The fit is very comfortable.

Great Pack

I just used this pack to hike in Olympic & Mt Rainer, I needed something just a little larger than my other 22 liter and it worked out great! It was able to fit my camera and layers as well as water and snacks. The padding on the back of it is perfect, and I even had to use the rain cover it comes with in pouring rain and my pack stayed completely dry. I’m about 5’3” and very petite and it fit my torso well.

Super comfortable and versatile pack!

I’ve been on the market for a backpack for about a year, and finally found the perfect pack. For reference, I am 5’3” and have struggled to find a backpack that fits my frame. I’m mostly using this as a work/commuting pack, and it’s so comfy! Pros: Lots of pockets to fit snacks, wallet, water bottles, etc. The hydration bladder pocket fits up to a 15” laptop. included rain cover is a huge perk! padded shoulder straps and back panel are super cushiony and comfy. Also lots of loops to strap things to your pack! Cons: Initially the straps feel a little stiff, but I think they’ll break in over time. the back feels a little stiff too, but should break in.
