Great Cover
This is the first pack cover I’ve ever owned, but I loved it. I hiked through an hour of rain, some of it quite heavy. The pack and all my gear stayed dry. I was pleasantly surprised it had two loops that go around the hip straps of your pack to secure the bottom, then another larger loop for the top. All that amounted to a very secure fit on my 65L north face with room to spare. It was easy to pop the top off to access the brain while the upper and lower loops kept everything else in place. I like to use it for a seat cover over a dirty tree stump or log. I also loosely cover my pack to set it on the ground in the tent vestibule overnight.
Nice, but terrible too.
Size Large fit great on my 55L pack with a typical foam sleeping pad attached on the bottom. There is extra room for some things strapped to the outside of outside of pack (on the sides) but not so much room that it's baggy. I wouldn't say there's extra room for additional things strapped to the top of the pack. I would give this thing 5 stars, except the elastic cord and hook is a fatal flaw. And it doesn't lend itself to an easy quick fix. At first inspection, it seems okay. There's a hook, on an elastic cord, and you pull that across the back panel and hook it onto a little loop. My problem began because the elastic was a bit short, so it was unnecessarily tight. My quick fix the night before a trip was to cut a hole and access the elastic at the edge of the cover (instead of the provided loop sewn 4" from the edge). That had the desired effect. (you can see in one photo where I cut it and sewed on some black reinforcing material). But that led to another problem: The plastic hook is this weirdly bulky 3 dimensional contraption. So I put the pack on, and now I have this thing poking me in the back. It felt like a Las Vegas casino die right on my shoulder blade. On to plan B: I cut off the plastic hook and tied on a short loop of cord and put on a different clip that I had laying around, which I then connected to the original hook point. That worked okay. On first use (yes, I know that's a cliche), the other plastic bit connecting the two ends of the elastic together fell off. Not a big deal - I tied the elastic together with a fisherman's knot. This is another indication that the plastic bits on the elastic were sub-par and not field tested at all. So the first thing I did was modify the item. It's not ethical for me to return it. But it's an idiotic design. My friend on the hike had another brand of rain cover. The hook and connecting parts were designed to lay FLAT. Yes, it rode there next to his shoulder blade, but the whole thing laid nice and flat and didn't bother him a bit.
Great rain cover for Osprey 65L
I used this for my AT hike with my Osprey Atmos 65L. I bought a large, as I had a sleeping pad and tent hooked up to the outside of my pack. This was large enough, and was great for rainy days.
Worked perfectly!
This rain cover did exactly what it's supposed to do- it kept our packs dry. It rained multiple times on our last backpacking trip and only the rain cover got wet. The sizing was spot on - We got the large for my husband's 65 liter so that it could cover both the pack and the attached tent, and the small was perfect for my 45 liter pack. I also appreciated the high vis colors.
Works well...
I use a large on my Atmos 65 to cover gear and bag, worked well in the warm rain and almost freezing rain.
Mostly does the job
Used during several wet training hikes while preparing for a week at Philmont Scout Ranch. Kept my pack mostly dry. It covers 5 of the 6 sides of the pack. You will get water dripping down your shoulder straps and into the bottom of the cover if it rains enough. Make sure the drain hole is at the bottom. But on day 3 of Philmont, the wee little hook on the end of the bungee strap broke. Had to pull out a Boy Scout knot to keep it tight. Luckily we only had one more day of rain.
Great Cover
Bought this as I heard we were going to get rain backing at Pukaskwa National Park. Used it one day on my pack with light rain. Kept everything inside dry. The tent and chair hanging on the lower outside of my pack were also able to be covered.
Great protection for backpack!
Served its purpose! Had to check backpack on one flight so added this rain jacket and it kept my pack clean and protected. It didn’t rain while we were gone but feel it’s worth the money to protect my pack in all cases.
Kept us dry
We have 2 of these and they really saved us on our last backpacking trip! 2 days of full on rain and nothing in our packs got wet. It fits securely and well on all of the backpacking packs we have.
Good product but…
I use this back rain cover to cover my doggie motorcycle carrier and the top case, works good but needs more ways of tying it up (there’s only one place to pull and get it tighter .love the colors
