I wore these on a quick 6 mile hike over rocky terrain with about 1000 feet elevation change. It was comfortable the whole time. It had a good grip and ankle support. Shoelaces did not come undone the entire hike. But the back of the shoe did rub a bit on my leg, so I will need to bring bandaids on a longer hikes. Otherwise, it was true to size and had a wide enough toe box for my slightly wide feet.
I really wanted to love these hiking boots. The issue that I've had is that they're very difficult to break in. It's been close to a year and I still have major rubbing on the back of my leg. They're definitely not too small but the back is very stiff. I've tried multiple lacing techniques and still I have that same rubbing on the back of my leg. I can say that the waterproofing is great on them and they have a good tread and traction for different terrains.
This is a nice hiking shoe for various trails and conditions. It is a little less flexible than I am used to, but provides rally great traction and stability on uneven surfaces and in slippery conditions. It is not overly heavy and gives good bracing for the foot and ankle. I found I had to spend some time playing with the lacing to get the right fit. At first, it seems pretty tight, but after experimenting with the laces, I was able to get a good fit. I did find the ankle support was a bit tight and uncomfortable.
I wore these shoes on eight different 5+ mile hikes before they stopped rubbing blisters on the backs of my ankles. They were quite painful in the beginning. However, now they are very comfortable and have a nice grip to them. They fit snugly without being tight, and the excellent traction was appreciated when crossing streams on slippery rocks and fallen logs. They're very sturdy without being heavy. In fact, they're quite lightweight. Now that they're broken in, I plan to wear them often. It's a solid boot!
The boots have great traction, which is perfect for the shoulder season hiking we've been doing here. Still some ice and slush on north facing slopes, but plenty of mud facing south. The boots were great at keeping my feet dry crossing streams as well as in the slush. The boots are slightly more narrow in the toe than I would normally wear, but didn't suffer any discomfort. The boots are stiff at first, especially in the high heel of the ankle support. After a few wears the ankle support is no longer stiff and uncomfortable. Would recommend this for someone going hiking on rocky terrain who needs the ankle support, and be sure to start wearing them in early so they'll feel like an extension of your own feet as any good hiking boot should.
I found them to be true to size, fit well and comfortable. They have great ankle support and grip. They are lightweight but a little stiff. I love the color and the look of them proving hiking shoes don’t have to be drab colors.
Love these shoes! I wore them on a 9 mile hike and found them to be sturdy, comfortable with nice cushion, and super cute! Also good grip going down hill.
My wife uses this model for extended hiking tours in our Dolomiti. She always had trouble for fitting with diverse brands but all these problems have been solved with AKU Alterra Lite GTX. Elica is really an outstanding fitting technology. Strongly recommended
I was hoping these were the ones since Vasquez Breeze had such bad reviews, I was wrong. My foot was swimming in this boot. Still looking.
