Great daypack!
I was initially looking for a backpack that I can use for light hikes, airport travel, or day travel in general. I was choosing between this pack and the Patagonia classic pack, I was biased to Patagonia as a brand but I still ended up with the Northface because it had what I was looking for that the Patagonia pack didn't have: 1. Sleek and versatile design 2. Water bottle compartments 3. More affordable 4. Materials used 5. Color options available 6. Comfortable padding (for me who has scoliosis)

Not for very short people
The bag is well made with lots of compartments and pockets, and the tension elastic strapping is good for stuffing a coat or shell into. Unfortunately the stiff padded arm straps and the stiff padded laptop compartment mean that I can't make the pack sit lower, and I'm so short (short neck) that the top of the pack hits me in the back of the head if I try to look up while wearing it. If you are a taller woman or have a long neck this pack may work for you. I'll probably give it away and try to find something else. Disappointed in the lack of adjustability.

perfect travel/commuting backpack

I initially bought this bag in a light green for myself but it was such a nice backpack that my fiancé "stole" it from me so he could use it for his commute to school (he has to ride the bus). Now, he bought me this bag again in blue since he is keeping the other. The bag is an excellent size as it is big enough to fit everything I need while still being small enough to work well for a carry on personal item while flying. It is comfortable to wear and sturdy, holding up to mu international travels. As well, there are so many pockets which are great for organization. I like to have everything in a specific place so I don't lose things and this works perfectly. As well, the laptop spot is a great size and fits my laptop in its case (13in-not sure if any bigger than a 15in would fit with a case). Finally, its one of my favorites for international travel because of how the pockets and the zippers are located. I have the ability to use a lock and string it through all four of the zippers. This keeps my bag secure while in other countries known for pic-pocketing. Overall, its just an excellent bag and it has worked out very nicely for me.

Poor Design and Pads

I ordered on line because of aesthetics, reviews, and marketing video. After receiving and trying it out at home, the backpack is very uncomfortable, hard pads on shoulder, cardboard feel on both shoulder and back, poor quality cushions. My shoulder started hurting carrying an empty bag. The main bag only has one open pocket in the deep compartment, none other for organization. The outside pouch for small items is designed halfway from top that if you put anything in it, the weight of the bag is top heavy and would topple over. I would like to keep this bag, but I am returning it.

May have received a faulty one

Sad that I’m disappointed! I’m normally happy with north face products, they’re usually of quality and consistent, so this backpack is very possibly a lemon. It arrived looking a bit dinged up (didn’t feel rigid and some threads were showing through the seams) - not Northface’s fault - but after first light use, more seams came undone. I’ll be returning.

Just what I was looking for.

Perfect for day hiking. It's light weight and there's plenty of room for extra layers of clothing, lunch and snacks, other essentials for the trail.

School bag

I bought this for my kid’s school bag. She spent a lot of time at an REI store looking at bags, and she decided on this one. It had all the features she needed, and she also plan to use it for travel. Best feature for me… We got it on sale.

Does not fit HP ENVY 16"

Purchased in person to replace an old backpack; checked this site before purchasing, since I have an HP ENVY 16" and many laptop sleeves do not fit a laptop of this size. My laptop wouldn't even fit in the opening of the sleeve. It fits inside the bag as whole, but the bag itself does not provide any further protection, so I'd rather keep it secure in the sleeve. Had to return it since as a student, this renders it unsuitable for my needs. Overall, good color choice and comfy construction though

Nice quality but strange fit

I ended up returning this backpack. I am only 5'4 and about 125-130 lbs and it was still too small for me, the way it sat on my back was weird. It could be that I'm too used to unisex packs, but it fit really oddly. Just a heads up for women looking into purchasing this.
