I have bought 3 pair

I have bought 3 pair. This first pair I bought I still have and are the best boots I have ever owned. The second pair were great until the sole came off. I have read this was an issue common(bad glue) I bought another pair and same thing happened. Great if they don't come unglued

After a couple of years of periodic use, the entire sole of one boot came off. The whole bottom part of the boot was disintegrated so it didn't even make sense to have them resoled. Like other reviewers said this boot has a quality issue which is unacceptable at $350.

sole delaminated

i have about 50miles on my boots. got about 1/2 mile into last hike and heard a flopping noise and looked down.. sole totally disintegrated and came off the boot. this kinda killed our backpacking trip. got home and looked at the other boot and it too was disintegrating. too bad, it was a comfy boot. went to asolo website to read warranty and they dont cover it! lol. then started looking at reviews online and it looks like this is a fairly common occurrence.

Boots have work great for me

I have had these boots for about 9 years. I do a lot of day hiking and have several different hiking shoes and boots, so these have not had a lot of use over the years, however, they are currently my daily wear boots. Very comfortable boots. Only reason I don't give 5 stars is because of no toe guard. Mine were gouged in the leather toes area almost immediately. I had a boot shop put some toe protection on. May not be that attractive, buts its better than the rock gouges that ere there.

the sole fell off

I might have put 30 easy miles on these boots. they were well cared for and always cleaned and stored in my closet. They changed the sole on these but I still wouldn't buy them.

Excellent boots!

I work in mineral exploration as a geologist and wear these boots on a daily basis in often rugged terrain with no real trails. My boots are approaching 9 years old and still have solid tread and have held up well, though I am preparing to buy a new pair for the upcoming season. The boots are best worn with a heavier weight hiking sock and will keep your feet surprisingly warm in cold conditions. They are in my estimation the better of the Asolo boots for $20 bucks more than the full leather editions which typically run small and are short in the toe box. I have extremely bad (weak) ankles and the torque on the Power Matic gives excellent support for those with this kind of problem.

Improvement over the 200 GV Midsole

The PW 200 EVO GV's are a fantastic update of the previous model. The Vibram sole is durable, yet grippy on wet/slick surfaces. The full grain leather is best in class and well maintained with water based products like NIKWAX Conditioner for Leather, and NIKWAX Waterproofing Wax for Leather. Use those products and you're sure to keep the leather and Gore-Tex membrane working as it is meant. The micro pulley lace system makes it extremely easy to snug and loosen where desired. I measured as an 11 EE on the Brannock Device. I order an 11 and the fit is perfect, snug all over with room in the toe box.

Asolo sole degrades

I wore my asolo boots only for two months for short city walks. I liked the design! I didn’t wear them for about 3 years. When I wore them a month ago, the midsoles came off in pieces. The company wanted to charge me for replacing the soles and the shipping to Italy. I already paid $350 for a pair of boots that didn’t wear them enough. Wish read reviews before my purchase.

Asolo has poor customer service

I purchased a pair of very expensive Asolo mountaineering boots with built in gaiters with Riri zippers on sale. I threw them on the shelf for a couple of years before wearing them. I really like the way they hike and how they handle vertical ice. However, the third time out climbing, the Riri zipper on one of the gaiters broke. Neither Asolo or Riri can or will help me. I am happy to pay for a repair. This is unacceptable for supposedly high end boots. I am not even whining for a free repair or replacement. I am willing to pay for it. Since I like the boots, how they fit, and how they feel on vertical ice, I will probably cut the gaiters off and use more traditional gaiters. However, it is disappointing to spend many hundreds of dollars on boots of this supposed "quality" and have two teeth fall out of the zipper after 2-3 times out and have no repair option. If you were on Denali or Everest, this could be a big deal. I am a recreational ice climber and it does not matter that much. It is usually just an hour or two to my car. This is not REI's problem. They are a great company. If I had used the boots immediately and the zipper failed, I would have brought them back to REI and they would make it right. Cannot do that in good conscience since they were on my shelf for a couple of years before using. Not fair to REI. I am upset with Asolo and the Riri zipper people who do not have a repair option. Also, please note that the Asolo two year guarantee specifically excludes products purchased from on line sites like REI. For the Asolo warranty to be valid, you have to purchase from an authorized dealer and have a bill of sale. Seems unreasonable to me. Will never buy Asolo again.

Good, but sole disintegrated

Good for about 6 years of use about 4 times per year. Stored inside home. Last hike 10 miles in looked down and sole on one side flapping, 1 mile later the other boot flapping. Total disintegration of sole down the the gortex liner exposed. Too bad - I loved the fit. Rugged and reliable…until dooms day for them.
