Critical flaws make this a bad idea
These are very comfortable and come in some nice colors, so I really wanted to like them. BUT: the strap has only about 1/2 of adjustability, and the buckle does not hold the strap where you put it, so I found myself constantly retightening the strap. This annoyance might be fine, but this shoe failed catastrophically for me twice in a single year in the same way. I caught the sandal on something while walking, and the thin foam that attaches the strap just broke off. Chacos replaced them under warranty, but a few months later the same thing happened again. Cannot recommend a shoe that so easily breaks and that cannot be adjusted to fit.
Extemely comofortable/not very durable
Love these sandals, they've honestly been a staple in and outside of the house because they're SO comfortable. Unfortunately the foam/rubber that the straps are attached to broke and there's no way to repair them. I didn't expect the same durability out of these as some of the other models but I also thought I'd get more than a year out of them.
Ripped twice
I got these for Christmas and was super excited about them! They were comfortable and fit true to size. However, the first pair ripped within 5 days of owning them and I only wore them a handful of times doing nothing more than walking around the house and traveling around town. The slot where the strap attached to the sandal tore just as I was leaving my house. I returned the first pair and got a new pair thinking that it must have been a fluke since I've owned Chaco Z2 sandals for years and hiked all over the world with no issues. Unfortunately, the second pair tore in exactly the same location within two days of wearing them. I am super disappointed and will not buy these again
Not the quality you'd expect from Chaco
I got these as a Christmas gift because I love chacos and I have crazy arches that need lots of support. I've only used these as house shoes. No hiking, no long distances, just around the house. 2 months and 2 weeks of use and they are tearing apart, literally. The rubber that holds the strap is being sliced and torn by the strap. The straps loosen when you try to tighten them around your feet. I gave up on trying to keep the straps tightened to where I liked them. I just keep thinking wow I really hope this is an anomaly and the poor design not working it's way into other chaco products. These didn't last 3 months of casual light duty around the house walking.
not worth it even on sale
My husband bought these during the Memorial Day sale and took them on vacation. Out 4 year old stepped on the back as he was lifting his foot and the strap broke rendering the shoe useless. I have foam flip flops that have fared better in similar circumstances. To make matters worse this happened in a large city zoo so he had to leave the zoo and walk barefoot to a store about a mile away to buy shoes. He threw them away others they would’ve been returned. Super disappointed in Chaco and disappointed that REI continues to carry such a product.
Broke within 3 months
These are a bust from Chaco. Broke within 3 months- I returned them. I wanted an easy slip on pair of sandals for working around the house and to and from school, didn’t take them on trails or anything rigorous. They broke where the straps attach as stated in other reviews
Decent?
I bought these in August ‘22 and it’s now May ‘23. I’m realizing the loopholes in the foam have torn significantly and should’ve had a reinforced grommet/eyelet. Even with just moderate use around the house or wearing out the door for school pickup - they’re comfy but not very durable.
Live in these now
These are my favorite shoes. I have been wearing them around the house and outside for weeks, it's only the beginning of April in MN. I definitely plan on purchasing a second pair for only in the house. They are super light weight and comfortable. The straps sit fairly loose and seem softer/more flexible than my chaco Z. They still have good arch support, semi adjustable straps, and a deep heel bed like most chacos. My only complaint is that the slide buckle slips easily so they don't stay tightened but I didn't buy them for hiking miles in so it's not that big of a deal. Definitely a solid base camp, around the house, and around town slide.
Great camp shoe! Does NOT run large.
The straps are perfectly long (some people have issues) and they feel amazing. I wear a womens 9.5/10 and bought a men’s 7 in this shoe after reading they run large, and unfortunately they were too small. Otherwise I’m so stoked about getting another pair.
Great sandals that won’t last
One of my favorite sandals for lounging around but the straps tear out of the rubber. Has happened on two pairs so far. Chaco’s could easily upgrade the design to fix the problem. Hopefully they will.
