Awesome shoes

My four-year-old daughter has been rockclimbing for about six months now, and continues her interest in climbing. We were using the shoes at the gym, but I wanted her to be able to climb even better. That’s why I bought these, and they’re awesome! She look like a spider climbing, sticking to the wall and climbing higher than her norm!

Dangerous design, no returns

Dangerous design. The strap is a weak point and it broke in the middle of my daughter’s boulder. Luckily she was close to the ground when she fell off the wall. When I examined the other shoe it was also nearly gone, this is after 6 months of use. Another parent said they had an identical pair and the same thing happened to their son. I do expect for small children’s shoes they will grow out of them before they break. I tried to bring them back and pointed out the design but they said it was normal wear and tear so members cannot bring them back. I do agree they have been used hard but the traditional Velcro pull over never would have given out. If you use this shoe please check the lace before every use - lesson learned.

Shoe lasted < 1 hour before it broke

Shoe lasted less than 1 hour before laces broke. Feedback from the gym is that this is a known issue with their shoes. We replaced the laces with paracord to confirm. This lasted <4 one hour sessions before being cut through. The picture below shoes what the grommets do after 1 hour.

Unsafe, laces break easily

Bought 2 pairs of these in less than 3 months. String broke on both of them. Some people retie the string somehow but I personally feel that once that string breaks, the string that is holding the shoe on your foot, the shoe is no longer safe. A shoe slipping off your foot while you are 15 feet up a wall is dangerous. I am also a climber myself and the very thought of one of my own laces breaking on my shoes, especially while I’m actively on the wall, makes me cringe. If that happens and you fall….. gonna hurt. Honestly if you could easily replace the entire lace like you would on an adult shoe, that would be fine, but these shoes are not designed in a way where you can really do that.

Not comfortable

My son loved these when he first put them on, but after a little while they became uncomfortable due to the significant seem inside the shoe. They are also sized too small and the laces don’t give enough length for a full volume foot.

Components wore out before the soles

My daughter climbs once/week for a couple hours. The laces and Velcro attachment on these shoes broke multiple times in the course of 9months when the toes finally wore through and I could justify buying a different pair. I love La Sportiva for my own shoes but I wouldn’t buy these again.

Great Kids climbing shoes.

Excellent shoes for kids. Precise enough to allow for development of good footwork, comfy enough for full days at the crag without too much whining. All the people stating that they fell apart are clearly using used shoes. If the laces aren’t red they aren’t original.

Not durable-Horrible strap design which fails fast

Not Durable! Straps break very easily. This is the second pair of these that we have purchased, and neither pair lasted more than 20 climbs before breaking.

Straps and Velcro break quickly

Two problems: Velcro pulled from the leather piece it’s stitched to and the strap broke in multiple places. On both shoes. I’m handy enough and took an old shoelace and replaced the strap and used needle and thread to stitch back the Velcro in a smarter reinforced way but nonetheless I will not be buying these shoes again. Most climbing shoes don’t need these repairs ever!
