PRODUCT IS MADE IN CHINA
If you're spending the extra money on this item in order to purchase an item made in Sweden as the company's packaging states explicitly, be aware that this product is made in China. I contacted REI to confirm and this is indeed made in China. I was really disappointed, I did a great deal of research looking for a grinding stone and was drawn to this company because they have "made in Sweden" all over their packaging and website. Most grinding stones are much less expensive but I chose this one because I wanted to support the company for manufacturing a high-quality product in Sweden. Hults Bruk packaging is deceptive.
Quality stone
Just picked up the Almike hatchet along with this and I have to say the quality of Hults Bruk products are impressive. The stone is free from blemishes and rough spots, it’s clearly labeled in coarse and fine, and the finger grooves are deep enough to keep them clear of danger. It comes in an oiled leather pouch and looks ready to do some work! All in all I’m very impressed.
A stone's throw from perfect
After just receiving the sharpening stone, you can already see Hults Bruk quality shine. I have their Aneby Hunters Axe and I love it. A real shame REI doesn't carry it anymore. I honestly bought the stone after the ace to just have something of the same brand as the axe. Clean and no knicks, this stone keeps my trusty axe and knife sharp while at camp. Real good for touch ups in between tasks. The Leather Pouch is also quite handsome and a nice touch for the price point. The only reason for the one star off is it's a bit hefty (it is a stone after all) and I can't really see myself taking this on a backpacking trip over my work sharp field sharpener (a lighter option, if not smaller). A very beautiful and useful collector's item to go with my Aneby Axe if I may say so.
Keep your axe razor sharp
This is a very nice sharpening puck. The groove in the middle makes the puck easy and safe to handle. The leather case is very nice - even better than Gransfors!
10/10 Would Recommend for Axes Knives EDC etc.
Have been eyeing this for a long time, and finally bought it about a month ago and all I can say is that it is certainly worth the price. I used it for my Axe, Boot knife and even some of my finer EDC knives and even my kitchen knife. It's just super easy to use and it gets the edges seriously sharp. I have zero experience in really sharpening anything so the fact that it helped make it easier - left me deeply satisfied. Plus it is cool looking too.
Fast Stone, Chips Easy
This stone sharpens fast and packs tight. It also chips easily in its holster, when in a shifting pack/bag. If packing this item, solve that one tiny issue, with a thick piece of webbing wrapped around the leather holster and banded in place.
Keeps sharp
Have used it on 3 axes so far. Does a good job. Only minor ware on it. Should last a while.
Perfect for knives as well as axes
Nice, dual grit stone. Great feel in the hand, beautiful belt pouch.
