Big picture: it's big and heavy as far collapsible chairs go, but it's also sturdy and comfortable, even for me at 230 lbs. Would I recommend it? Yes, as long as you don't plan packing it in anywhere. The nitty- gritty: the frame is made od strong tube steel, the rocking mechanism is ROBUST, I leaned as far back as I could and it felt as stable as ever, and it's wide and comfortable. Also, I like the way the base distributes the load and doesn't sink into the ground. But, while the frame is strong, the pivots look undersized. Also, the cup holder is sewn onto the right side, not nice for leftys like me. Also, I don't like that the rivet that holds the arm rest down has the rough side facing in.

The positives are that it’s foldable, feels sturdy, seems like quality materials. I like the idea of a folding rocker. The chair is larger than I expected. Meaning it’s quite large when it’s folded and in the carrying case. I probably wouldn’t want to carry it with me. It’s also quite large as a chair. I’m six foot and I felt like my feet weren’t firmly planted on the ground. This may be due to the rocker shocks that maybe require more weight to make the legs sot on the ground.

My favorite chair.

This is my go to chair for camping and having a drink in the driveway with my neighbors. I’m 6’ 2” 260 pounds and it fits me perfectly, without a doubt this is my favorite chair. I’ve had it for 3 summers now and multiple neighbors have gotten this chair after seeing mine. Mine is getting worn now after getting hauled around the country but still going strong. Only negative I have is I wish there was a carrying strap on the chair for easy caring long distance without putting it in the bag.

Amazing camp chair

I was surprised to see people mention that they'd struggle to carry this thing to camp; I don't think that's what it's designed for. It's great for RV camping and back porch lounging but way too heavy for backpacking. It's truly the most comfortable camp chair I've ever owned. I tried a different GCI rocking chair a few years ago that had a rocking chair bottom to it with plastic connectors that broke pretty quickly; REI took it back no questions. I have a GCI beach chair that's very high quality so I was looking forward to trying this one out. It's very solidly built and I don't foresee any issues over time. Super comfortable and sturdy.

Comfortable portable Rocking chair

I purchased this chair to replace older gravity loungers that i was tired of lugging in and out of the garage depending on weather. This is very portable, relatively lightweight and is comfortable to sit in. I am 5’7” and my feet can touch the ground, but persons with shorter legs may find this a bit high to rock comfortably. Definitely best to try in store first. Two issues keep this from a five star review, the first is that it needs to be on relatively even ground or you slide forward while sitting, the second is the lack of ventilation in the seat portion. I live in Alaska, but on a warm 75° day that seat makes you sweat like a sauna.

My New Favorite Front-Country Chair!

The comfort of this chair is unbeatable, and the rocker mechanism really adds to the comfort level. As the name "RoadTrip" implies, this chair is intended for front-country camping, picnics, or other outdoor events and for those purposes it is now my favorite chair! Having used this on surfaces from pavement, to a wood deck, and a soft lawn, the chair is very stable with no feeling that it could be easily tipped on any of those surfaces. It also has a very sturdy build that easily supports my 190 lbs. Because of its sturdy build and the rocker mechanism this chair is fairly heavy, weighing in at just over 13 lbs. But, for front-country use this is not a problem. The chair is also quite easy to set up and take down. If you are looking for a very comfortable chair for front-country, outdoor use this chair certainly delivers on that!

You will never get to use it!

I bought this chair for myself as I like being able to rock in a chair in general. I brought this chair to a group camping trip to Glacier and had to keep asking people to move so I could use it. Everyone in the group gravitated to this chair. I agree with the others, the tote/storage bag doesn't appear that it will hold up very long and I wish it was more durable. The chair is super easy to unfold and fold back up. I also like that the back of the chair is a bit higher than most camp chairs. If you can deal with chasing people out of your chair so you can use it, I think you will find it really comfortable!

Not Happy GCI Roadtrip Rocker

Have 2 of these. Never used out in the weather. Both are frayed around the seat edge and top edge. Green one broke rod in seat. My weight is 115 pounds. Maybe used 3 summers inside patio porch only.

Didn’t hold up like I expected for the price.

Bought 2 chairs last summer and the threads came apart on one of the arms. Other than that they are good chairs.

Well built, but doesn’t work for me.

This looks like a very well built chair. The first thing I noticed when I sat in it is how cool my back felt. The mesh back is a nice feature. The second thing I noticed is that the chair wants to settle too far upright for me to be comfortable. Unless my legs are holding it back, the chair settles on the front feet. I have to press up with my legs to get to the rocking point & the back comfortably tilted back. I’m 6’ tall & about 240, so I may be at the limit of the design of the mechanics. I would probably keep this chair if the back was reclined a bit more in the resting position.
