Disappointed

I bought these for indoor training with rollers and was really disappointed. If you don’t own a Garmin computer, these sensors don’t serve much purpose. The Garmin connect app has very limited functionality. The cadence sensor doesn’t connect by design (Huh?).The speed sensor connects but is very unreliable. The first session only recorded the length of time, no speed or distance data. The time of day was off by a several hours as well for some reason. I spent a few hours testing various devices and fitness apps. None of them would record speed and cadence data from these sensors consistently. I gave up and bought wahoo fitness sensors to pair with their app. They worked perfectly on the first try. I bought on name recognition alone without doing the research and I paid the price.

Cadence Sensor was great. Speed Sensor didnt work.

I was truely excited for this box to arrive, I own other products from Garmin and love them. Attaching the Sensors to the bike was amazingly simple. But Connecting them to Garmins app was not. The speed sensor never finished pairing. However it never matered because Zwift would connect easily Via Bluetooth. Only one problem the speed sensor would never register any MPH on the trainer. The cadance sensor would be reporting 55 rpm. So the back wheel was turning. I replaced the battery, contacted garmin, watched tutorials, nothing worked. So I am returning.

Garmin vs. WAHOO

The cadence sensor is spot on. The speed sensor is subpar. This past weekend was the 1st time using both of the sensors on a 42 mile ride. While on flat surfaces, the speed appeared to maintain the correct speed. However, when going down hill the speed would read 17-20 mph but when I hit a small bump in the road the speed would drop to 8-10 mph for a few seconds and then jump back to the correct speed. I checked the Garmin website for corrective action and the common response was to remove the battery and replace it with a new one. The two that I have are brand new, out of the box. I should not have to replace the battery. Garmin needs to produce a better product that will maintain accurate speeds. I used WAHOO prior to this and never had any issues with the speed sensor. I guess I am going back to WAHOO.

Easy to install and set-up was simple.

Both sensors were easy to install. Syncing them with a Garmin Edge 830 was simple and set-up has worked well and trouble free for several months now.

Works great, easy to pair

I bought these to pair with a Wahoo Elemnt Roam head unit. Pairing was easy and they have been working well so far. There have been a few times during rides when I look at the cadence on the bike computer and it seems to have dropped the signal for very brief periods (10 sec or less). But when I analyze the data afterward, it looks fine. I like that the sensors are easily de/attached by sturdy bands, making it easy to swap to another bike. This is one big reason I did not get the Wahoo speed/cadence sensors which attach via zip tie.

Garmin screwed this ones

The cadence sensor is great, the speed sensor is pathetic, I initially thought I got a faulty unit, replaced it and got the same issues. Connectivity depends on miracles, and when the speed sensor connects the accuracy is horrible. Hard to believe that Garmin will put out a Gen3 sensor that functions like a beta product. Spent several hours with garmin customer service, they could not explain what happens. I will be getting my money back....
