I have always been a fan of Merrell boots, all the way back to my time spent in Afghanistan. The day after my boots were shipped to my house, I went for an 8 to 10 mike hike around the high plains in southern Wyoming. They were extremely light and comfortable, I felt like they were already broken in, and there was zero discomfort. Two weeks after that I went hiking in the Rockies of Northern Colorado and again the boots were abundantly comfortable and held up very nicely. I would definitely recommend these boots to anyone who is doing late spring, summer, or early fall hiking or hunting.

Tried these out first day I had them on a sub-5 mile walk. VERY comfortable from the get go. Fit true to size and were delightful even after 5 miles. No break-in time at all. Why I say unreliable is because these lost their waterproofing after less than month of ownership and only one hike in the woods. Was water that was only about an inch deep and my socks were soaked. They had been fine on the waterproofing out of the box when tested so I know it wasn't a fluke. If I buy a waterproof boot I don't expect it to be that way forever but certainly more than one hike. Traction was also weak with the pattern present.

REI outlet winner

Great boot.ordered online came early, used normal shoe size perfect fit, shaped narrow in toebox, snug but can wiggle my toes, wider in heel.vibrant soul curves over toe ,space for gator strap.hard plastic ankle support Great for running.big strong loops for pulling boot in I going to put some nikiwax water proof spray I got from REI on them and attempt walking the "southern tier bike trail" east to west 2500 miles in winter months. Ordered a week before leaving, was nervous not trying on first, no issues other reviews were spot on, thies bots are a great choice. Another great deal REI thank you

Great Boot but mens Boot price is a rip-off.

I bought a pair of these for my wife this Xmas for $85 + tax and looked into buying a pair for myself but the REI is $170 + tax. I went to the Merrell website and they are selling the men's for $95 + tax. I have been an REI member since the 70's and bought a lot of products from them based on quality and value but there is something waaaaaaaaaaaaay wrong here. All of the reviews I have read on the Merrell site are pretty much 5 star

Perfect Fit

I've been looking for that perfect fit right out of the box and these are the ones! The second my foot slipped into these shoes they felt right at home. Extremely comfortable all around the foot, and excellent padding in all the right places. I was using Salomons but they had absolutely 0 cushioning around the Achilles and top of the heel which quickly led to blistering. These far surpass any Salomons or any other hiking shoe I've ever worn and I'm extremely satisfied with the purchase.

Great, all around boot

Had my pair of Chameleon 7's for about a year now. taken them on everything from 14'ers in all weather, to hiking the flatlands of Wisconsin and Illinois. Overall, stellar boot. Water resistant, however i suggest and extra coat of waterproofing. Easy to clean, quick drying, and durable. Not to mention some of the most comfortable boots ever!

Great fit

I bought these online a few weeks before a hike in the White Mountains. A little nervous buying without trying them on but REI phone representative assured me they wear true to size. I wore them on some longer flat walks and up and down stairs to get them broken in, very comfortable. On the hike (my first in years) they kept my feet dry and comfortable. No blisters, good support for my ankles, and my toes were fine when descending.

Good solid boot

I did not buy these as my primary hiking boot but rather as a replacement for my old kick around boots. I have had plenty of Merrell boots in the past so I was confident these would meet my needs. The boots have a higher arch then some I have had but doesn't seem to be a problem. They are also a little warmer than I was expecting but this is actually a benefit as it is Winter and I live Colorado so no problem there either. We'll see how they are in Summer. Size was spot on.

Great fit, comfortable and supportive

I really like the comfort. The Vibram less aggresive tread is just what I need as an older 'less aggressive' hiker. And it is a wear-all-day shoe.

slippery soles

The rubber soles are really slippery on most surfaces and also super dangerous for urban use. Bought these last december and had to return them after slipping on the side walk as well as on a subway platform. Something’s definitely wrong with the sole design. To be fair they’re pretty comfortable and they might be more suited for the mountains.
