Expect better design from Thule
Purchased both the ski and the snowboard roller bags. From a company like Thule on a product like this I would expect a more innovative design like incorporating boot storage into the bag. Space is very limited to two pairs of skis and whatever you can cram in between them which isn't much. Main flaw in the design though is the angle in the zipper which would appear to serve no purpose but to make opening and closing the bag more difficult and likely wear out much sooner. Improve the bag by creating 3" more thickness and just make the zipper straight.
Thank you for your feedback on the Thule RoundTrip Rolle Bag. Thule ski bags are designed to carry skis or snowboards, depending on the model, and some clothing. Thule also makes separate boot bags in the same line, some of which can be directly attached to the roller bag for easy transport. One continuous board and boot bag would likely cross airline size guidelines and not only be unwieldy to move, but lead to higher airline fees. The zipper pattern is designed to allow the bag to open fully, allowing access to the whole board or skis for easy entry and removal.
Okay but not great
Pros: has wheels, has buckle straps to secure board inside, pockets for extra items. Cons: the zipper pattern is weird and gets jammed a lot, the material has zero stretch so it’s hard to fit a lot of extra gear inside, it’s expensive .
It does what it does
I bought this like last month and I haven't used it yet. I most likely will use it during the holidays 2023.
Great bag, bought to fly with my gear.
I bought this about a month ago for a trip from the east coast out west to Colorado, needed a bag to travel with. Very sturdy bag, the S-like zipper in a different color is a nice feature how it snakes around, and a neat visual design. The wheels helped for sure getting around, I wasn't sure I needed them, but when I had a carry-on bag and a backpack to take to/from the airport plus my board, having something that rolled was helpful. The handles all feel high quality and are in the right places. It has nice removable boot bags inside to hold your snowboard boots, and an interior zipper in the front flap as well to hold a few smaller items or soft goods. I was also able to fit a second pair of heavy duty snow boots in there between my bindings that would have been impossible to fit in my carry-on, or to wear on the plane, so that was great to be able to do that. If you don't need to do that you could definitely fit your jacket/snow pants/etc. in between your bindings and have all your gear self-contained in one bag. I wish they had a hard shell version, because I'd love to fit my helmet/goggles/etc. in here but I worry about it getting tossed around when being loaded/unloaded from a plane. I also ski from time-to-time so it would be nice if Thule made a combo-bag that could be versatile enough to work with either a snowboard or skis. This bag is snowboard-specific and does a good job of that, but my skis definitely are too long, and the longer Thule ski bags are apparently too narrow for snowboards. Just an idea for future product :)
