Very Sturdy

This is the best camp table I've ever had. I had used those blue roll tables for years, but got irritated with their wobbliness. This one is sturdy and packs away into a fairly small bundle. It's a bit heavy, but the extra weight is no problem when considering how steady this thing is when set-up. I'm 6'2" so this table is way too low for me. But I inserted 7/8" conduit tubing into each leg to elevate them by about 6". The round tubing fits snugly inside the table's square legs. I placed a tiny stainless steel screw into each conduit extension which keeps the table elevated to my desired height. I pull them out when packing the table. Now it's perfect!

Rivet snapped on initial set-up

It looks like a nice design but made with inferior metal. The rivet that connects to the center of the table broke on initial set-up. Now its useless. Not repairable. Not worth the money.

Had a Minor Issue and Fixed it Already

Bought 22 Feb 2021 at San Diego store. During a test set-up at home discovered that one of the table to frame retaining pins was installed 180 degrees out. Took 10 minutes to drill out the pop rivets, turn pin around, and put new pop rivets in. Suggestion - I installed a bungee cord to put a very slight strain on the rails to keep the table from from falling through the rails. Refer to pictures.

completely fell apart

This was great for 2 years, 3 trips. The diagonal, scissor-like stanchions that are supposed to connect and slide up and down the legs all broke simultaneously. Outside of the return window, of course.

Plastic pieces break within a few years

A product is only as good as its weakest part. Two plastic hinges just fell apart after only 2 seasons of use. They did so when I was breaking it down with very minimal force. Not at all what I would expect of something that is supposed to be "sturdy". And if course, REI only covers stuff for a year.

Breaks easily

The plastic holding the legs in place becomes brittle and breaks. Table is unusable after they break.

Base Camp Essential

Outstanding overloading table. I spent 3 months camping out of my truck over the summer. I hit 6 states out west and this table was invaluable. Nice size packed up and sturdy when deployed.

Second opinion based on redesign

We bought this table 3 or 4 years ago and were disappointed in both the setting up and the cheap plastic parts that hold the legs together...one broke right away but we continued to use the table. This spring, knowing we were long past the warranty period, I took a chance and inquired about replacement parts. Much to my surprise, they responded almost immediately and offered to send a replacement base for the cost of shipping, about $15. The new base appears to have been slightly redesigned, set up was much easier and the plastic parts appear to be more rugged. Time will tell I guess, but good that they recognized they had a problem with the original design.

Roll On - Roll Top!

The Mountain Summit Gear Heavy Duty Roll Top Table - Large performed really well on our trip as well as here at home. It's really quick and easy to set up. Packing it into the bag requires a little practice - like maybe twice - and then it's also very quick and easy. The table top is easily strong enough to hold a 25 lb / 22" griddle and it still leaves ample room to work on your meal - if that's what you use it for. The slats in the table top will likely not make the table suitable for doing your artwork or homework, so that could be a drawback for some. Bought during the REI annual sale, and with our yearly dividend, our table was practically free.

Make Car Camping Easier

Just had this delivered! Been wanting one for awhile as my plastic one is fairly rickety and unstable and has been since new. The table is pretty solid. Easy to set up/ take down. We do a fair amount of car camping in dispersed campsites (generally no level campgrounds with tables.) This will be a welcomed addition as it can be cooked on, eaten on, and we can play games on it. My only wish is that the legs were individually height adjustable as the campsites we go to are not level, so we'll most likely have to put something under the table to make it level. Still a solid 5 star table in my opinion.

Perfect table for camping

We wanted a table for camping (w/ a pop-up camper) so that my husband would have more prep space near the grill. But we wanted one that folded up pretty small - this one fit the bill. Once it's set up, it's quite sturdy (I mean, I wouldn't stand on it or anything) and it folds up small enough to fit under the table w/ my camp chairs. If I had one minor gripe - there's nothing that keeps the middle of the table together (like a lip that would catch on the bottom side of the top slats), so occasionally it slips out a bit (esp. during set up).
