Safe and warm

My husband was in a fire and his hands were burned severely, needing grafts on both. They are very sensitive to the cold now and one of his favorite things is ice fishing- he was afraid he wouldn't be able to go again. I spent a long time reading different site reviews and asking advice, and decided to go with these. He has happily, warmly, and most of all safely gone ice fishing 3 times already since Christmas- he couldn't be happier. Thank you!

The best I’ve found, but has one fatal design flaw

These are pretty much the best mittens you'll find if you're looking to keep your hands warm in freezing conditions. And I have tried A LOT of mittens. I tested out these mittens by wearing them in 10 Fahrenheit weather (wind chill of -10F) for about 40 minutes. My hands were toasty warm for about 30 minutes, until my fingertips started getting very cold. After a few more minutes, my fingers were able to warm up again, minus my pointer finger and thumb. This is because the inner liner of this mitten separates your pointer finger from the rest of your fingers (3-finger/lobster design). Mittens tend to keep your hands warmer than gloves because your fingers are kept closer together to collectively generate heat that keeps all of your fingers warm. Since the pointer finger is separated, less heat is generated around it and it gets colder much more quickly. The same thing happens with your thumb. These mittens did not even reach the advertised temperature range before my hands got cold, which is very disappointing, especially for a $200+ mitten! Still, they are pretty much the best non-heated mittens I've found (besides cheap army surplus arctic mittens, surprisingly). If the inner liner didn't separate your pointer finger, these mittens would be perfect.

The WARMEST

To say this mitten is warm is understatement. To reiterate, if you get cold hands easy like myself, this will solve all those issues. At the expense of near complete dexterity loss, my hands felt like I was tanning on a beach chair at the top of a few of the Breckenridge cornices. Ski poles are very difficult to hold. Even a few instances where i forgot to put them back on when I began a run (laced around my wrist), fell and filled them with snow; they would quickly dry out and warm up my hands within 30 seconds of shaking them out. The lace system comfortably wraps around your wrist and does not drop too low. The fact that this piece also has a glove liner, makes it easier to dry out and clean. Also with this liner’s DWR coating and nose wipe, they would make a great spring skiing 3 finger glove! At a whopping small 424g, this behemoth of a hand sleeping bag weighs ~2x your cell phone. Since they are so large, they are indeed hard to pack with a full 20L backcountry bag. I was on the hunt for the warmest solution on the slopes with avoiding any tech or hand warmers. This is it.

Warm Mitts!

Last Monday, I went to a rare place in the mountains known for record breaking low temperatures in the U. S. called Peter Sinks, Utah, while it was -53 degrees Fahrenheit to test your Absolute Mitts. The mitts kept my hands warm just fine for the first 30 minutes. I then discovered that when my fingers got cold, all I had to do was curl all of my fingers and thumb up within each Mitt while still wearing the mitt and move them across each other. They then warmed up again! I did this for over an hour and could do it indefinitely. That is a fantastic mitt! Thank you!

Unparalleled, great for winter biking in any conditions

If you're looking for top of the line mittens, you can't go wrong with these. I have used them in New England and the Midwest during the winter as my bike is my only vehicle. They provide excellent and often excessive protection for such conditions. I wanted to be able to ride in any conditions though and these serve me quite well. They provide a reasonable amount of dexterity for shifting gears. My hands are typically sweaty in them when in New England. In the Midwest, they provide more than adequate protection. As you can see from other reviews, many users report success in much colder climates. I have no doubt that these will be a lifetime product for me; there aren't many of those I've yet collected as I am still young.

Sleeping Bags for the hands

Some mornings the negative teens or lower are just too cold for the regular gloves. These ARE the Absolute MItt for sure. When the fingers are gone due to whatever conditions, it’s awesome to pull these out of the pack and bring the fingers back. After a nice recovery in these things, I’m usually good to get back to the tasks at hand. As a guide/instructor, on the super cold days, these can help me or a client/student continue the lesson/day/tour whatever without the suffer factor of frost nipped fingers and cold hands.

Could be better!

I originally bought the guide gloves for riding my motorcycle but they failed miserably. So I bought these gloves thinking I can’t go wrong. Still, while riding my bike with actual temps in the low 30s and windchill because of highway speeds in the single digits, my finger still got cold. Windchill should not affect the gloves but for what ever reason, if your buying these gloves for riding on a motorcycle, don’t. If you do you will need chemical hand warming pouches or just get heated gloves!

Atomic power

This is sort of the last resort for a person like me living in Canada where temperature drops below minus 25 up to minus 47 degrees, many times from mid-November to mid-April. Nothing beats those mittens. And there’s no substitute of those, I tried many things honestly. The only limitation of every mittens is that some work cannot be done like gloves, but if not much fingers-movement is required then those are the number one. I found my salvation; at least for now.

Warmest Mittens I've ever seen

These mittens are massive and not dexterous at all, but that is because you will not find a warmer mitten construction out there. I think you'll struggle to find a warmer non-heated mitt out. They work really nicely with liner gloves inside too. No hand warmer pocket but hopefully you won't need hand warmers with these bad boys. Great for dog mushing and winter camping.

Finally warm

i have lived with cool hands all my life. I have to change out my mittens several time while snow blowing. I got these Absolute Mittens and for the first time in my life i did my snow detail and came inside and told my wife that for the first time in my life my hands stayed warm; i love these mittens. If you are like me these mittens are the ones you want to own.
