Best $40 I've spent on outdoor gear
I went XC skiing last night in around 10-15F weather and these worked great - if anything they were a little too warm at times (but I run hot). Wicked sweat well. Favorite XC gloves, hands down. Plus, they look great. The white stripe and stitching on it is very attractive. Felt a little short initially when I put them on but they have stretched out after only one use of around an hour (must be the leather) and with my hands wrapped around a ski pole, the shorter length doesn't bother me. If I straighten my hand out all of the way then it the fingers feel short to me so if you have long fingers I'd size up or go with the men's.
Warm and Functional
My daughter used these for a XC ski race. The temps were in the single digits. Her fingers did not get cold. These mitts are sleek enough to fit snugly in modern XC velcro-fastening ski pole grips and warm enough at the start of a cold weather race without causing overheating toward the end. I felt the size chart was off. After taking measurements, it seemed a men's S would fit best. It was huge. Next I just ordered what made sense, a women's S, rather than what the size chart indicated. The fit was a perfect!
Great Nordic Lobster Gloves
Great lobster gloves for skate skiing! I've skied several 20-25F degree days and my hands were warm. They are not as bulky as some mittens, so they fit in nordic poles easily. They also have a soft fleece patch on the thumb for the inevitable nose dab!
