Worth every cent. Quality is amazing
If you camp often or just a need a cot for regular use then this is definitely worth the investment. I cannot rate it highly enough. After reading the easy to follow instructions this cot is super quick to put together and pack up again. Extremely sturdy and light weight, doesn't move around or make noise when you turn over in your sleep. It feels really secure and the quality is outstanding. I teamed it up with the extension legs and the height is perfect to sit on. I also use the Camp Dreamer XL Self Inflating Deluxe Bed mattress on this and I have the best nights sleep when I use this set up.
I love this Cot!
Ya, its expensive, but if you can swing it its worth it. Packs up small and light, good for rafting trips. Sturdy and well made - its not going to break. I use a Silverback Paco Pad with it and it fits perfect. I am 170 lbs and 5'2" and a side sleeper - I have plenty of room to roll around. The height is great for sitting to get dressed, etc. Its tricky to initially set up, but once you get the hang of it its simple. Just make sure the cross bars are set up with the "this side up" facing the bottom of the cot platform (not towards the ground). Paired with the woodchuck side table and I am good to go...to sleep.
Amazed!!!!
I only bought this cot to simply get myself up off the cold hard ground. I never imagined it would be as comfortable as it is. The first night I set this up, I threw on a Thermarest mattress and ended up having the most comfortable nights sleep I've had in as far back as a can remember!! I certainly didn't expect that. At this early stage of use I can't really comment on long term durability other than it appears to be very well made. I really wish I would have had this the last time I camped out in the Black Hills on the very cold and very hard ground.
Sturdy, comfortable, light
This cot is very sturdy and comfortable despite its relatively light weight (6 lbs). The first time setting it up, be patient and follow the instructions carefully. It takes a little effort and if you pay close attention the logic of it will make sense. And after you’ve done it once, it becomes very easy. If you’re a big guy that hates sleeping on the ground, this may be your answer. I’m 6’2” and 250 lbs, and I find it quite comfortable.
Great comfort, not sure about durability
Got this cot for a car camp trip to Joshua Tree. Set it up before hand and let it sit for 48 hours; seemed to do well, especially considering I'm 6'4" and 240lbs. First night at camp, heard a rip near my feet and thought it was my sleeping bag liner. Next morning I noticed a 8-10" rip near where my feet were and realized it was the cot that ripped and not my sleeping bag liner. Despite that, it held up for another 4 days. I really like this cot, but for the price, failing on the first night had me worried, so I returned it. Also, if it was to fail, I expected to fail on the heavy-load areas (torso and waist), not near my feet. Could be anomaly and I would consider trying this cot again, but will be testing much cheaper cots first. REI was great in accepting the return without question after I explained what happened, so that gives me a lot of confidence in their return policy and trying it again in the future.
Ideal for Motorcycle Camping
I have been 3-season camping with the 26.5" wide Cot One since 2017. It is nothing short of amazing. Build quality + engineering is top notch. I had wide shoulders, which causes a little bit of an issue when warm weather camping. If my sleeping bag zippers are open, and I'm laying on my back, my arms tend to hang over the sides. Colder weather with closed zippers, no issues. I just purchased the Max, hopefully the extra 3 inches in width with fix this. Most people who own this cot, figure out how to use the clamps after one or two uses. Occasionally I'll see a bad review where someone with a really short attention span, can not figure it out. If they would set the cot on it's side, gently apply a small amount of pressure to the base of the clamp while lightly squeezing the 2 side buttons, they would find out how extremely easy this cot is to setup + breakdown. It seriously pains me when I see bad reviews of such a great product for this type of reason.
Deluxe
This works amazing for me on the field car camping or backpacking and at home too. Get so much use out of it for myself and our kids in hotels on trips and sleepovers at home. Easy to assemble and take down. Durable if you are gentle on it just like any ultralight piece of gear. I love this product, it’s seems like if NASA would build a cot, this is what it would be like.
Comfortable and Sturdy
I've been sleeping on this cot for the past three nights in my office because of the travel restrictions. I'm 6'3" and weigh 240. When it arrived, I was struck by how compact it was for such a large cot. I found it easy to assemble and I liked the lever action of the supports which made tightening the fabric a breeze. I also purchased the leg extensions and they attached easily. I tested it three different ways: over-quilt only, sleeping bag and large Therm-a-Rest, and a Big Agnes Lost Ranger bag with 20 x 78 insulated Air Core insert. Overall, it is very study and comfortable for the back sleeper. For the side sleeper, it is a little less comfortable. I found that my legs would rest against the side rails and that was a bit uncomfortable. The problem was somewhat alleviated by a wider Therm-a-Rest pad. I would recommend it for a back sleeper, but would advise the side sleeper that a wider, thicker pad covering the side rails might be necessary. I plan to experiment with covering the rail area that my legs rest against with a short pool noodle to see if that helps as I really like this cot.
Finally
I've found sustained sleep comfort with the Cot Max I purchased in 2019. Primarily used for car and tent camping. I had morphed from sleeping on the ground with various pads and air mattresses. Then a couple of years with a hammock and pad covered by a Kelty Delta Tarp. Quit the hammock mid-trip after it caught up with me and retreated back to the ground and vowed to get a quality cot. The Cot Max is it. I use a long, wide inflatable foam pad on top to insulate with softness. Total success. Very solid platform. A pleasure to stretch out and roll over, prop oneself up to read etc. Setting it up takes some practice and may not jive with everyone as it does take some strength to set the legs properly. But it became second nature after the firth time which I got down to about 6 minutes. It's stable enough to sit on while doing various tasks in the tent - dress, putting on shoes/boots. Can store gear underneath it which adds room to the 4 person tent I now utilize by myself but I've used it with an old Passage 2 tent also. (set it up inside if using smaller tent) All that comfort yet it packs down very small for my minimalist car-camping with a Golf hatchback.
This ain't your Dad's cot
Small package, light as a feather, assembled in a couple minutes, and more comfortable than imagined. Don't see and can't imagine any cons.
