These shoes have been great for me getting back on the trails after the recent birth of my son. They have great tread on the bottom that grips the trail well. I have been using them as my everyday all around shoe as well as my running shoes, because they are so comfortable and easy to slip on and off. They feel light and very well put together. I don't notice the uneven and sometimes rocky terrain when I'm running on the trails near where I live. The shoes do run about a half-size large. Like my other experiences with Solomon I do wish they were a little bit wider. Overall, I really like the shoes and they have become my go-to runners.
I purchased the Supercross in April and trail walked in them for approximately 25 miles before the weather got too hot. I recently picked up trail walking again this fall. I put in a 13 mile walk, no problem, but noticed holes wearing in my hiking socks around the Achilles area. A few weeks later I hiked again for about 3 miles before blisters formed on my right Achilles and I had to stop. Before my next trail walk I purchased new Darn Tough hiking socks and hiked 6 miles. When I returned I noticed a hole wearing in the Achilles area. Now I checked the shoe and found holes worn through both shoes on the inside that touches my Achilles. The holes were worn through the materials and the padding and directly touches the stiff heal cup. The shoes are unwearable now with less than 50 miles on them. Very unfortunate since the tread and rest of the shoe is practically brand new and should have many more miles left on them.

I’ve had 2 pairs of these now because 8 really like the fit and they’re comfortable. Used as a walking shoe, they keep my feet dry and have good grip. There is only one problem and that’s the heel insides. Both pairs have split leaving a hard plastic moulding coming through. This feels very sharp and on the first pair I resorted to gluing a covering piece of fabric that has led to being able to wear still. This split has occurred between 8-12 months of wear, which I don’t believe is satisfactory. I bought the second pair for holiday 6/2021 and these have just started to split 9 months later. Clearly a weak spot on a shoe that is otherwise almost perfect.
While these were certainly not my "lead" shoes, I did wear them quite a bit over the last 18 months. Mostly in the city, but a couple camping trips. After that moderate use, the fabric on both sides of the toes, on both shoes split (see picture). Maybe thinking they'd last longer was an unrealistic expectation. The "laces" also gave out after 12 months and had to be replaced.
I bought a pair back in May 2020 and have run roughly once or twice a week until now (Jan 2021) and have just noticed the fabric is starting to tear just behind the plastic for the toe box. This is true for both sides of both feet (shoes), though the picture shows the worst tear. Aside from the tears, I've found the shoes to be quite good. Despite reviews noting it's a bit small to size, I was fine with my standard shoe size. I can't complain about their performance on the trail either.
I was looking for a shoe that I could wear when I'm on long trips away from home, know I want to get some trail runs in, but don't have enough room to pack multiple pairs of shoes. The Supercross are the perfect do-it-all solution. With many features of the Speedcross (my favorite in the Salomon trail running line) and with the aesthetics of something you can wear all day and feel confident in, these shoes check all the boxes. Insane grip, comfort on long runs, speed laces, and looks to turn heads. If you're looking for shoe that does it all, try these on!
These shoes felt comfy and supportive on runs I did both on pavement and light gravel trails. I have very high arches and typically require an aftermarket insole, but these felt broken in and responsive right away. I have yet to test on rougher terrain in the mountains but given the deep treads and ankle support I feel they will perform well. This was also my first experience using a speed-lace system in running shoes and I found it much easier to dial in the fit vs. a normal shoelace. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a great all-around shoe.
Pros- wicked comfy, laces are efficient and effective. Cons- they have zero ability to grip. Any incline is a challenge whether it’s dry dirt, dry rocks, or dry roots. Wet=ice. IMO the chevron grips are pointing the wrong way. Worse off, when they let go there is zero warning and no ability to regain grip. At least I know what to expect in my Salomon ski boots, the bottoms of these shoes mind as we’ll be plastic. At least then there wouldn’t be any surprises. To the man on the trail that heard me cursing these and offered up,” they’re great in flat ground” so are my bare feet and every other running shoe. These are rubbish. Glad REI has their policy to protect the consumer from this trash shoe.
These trail runners work well for my semi-urban trails. My most needed traits in a shoe are: Traction: These maintain stability on wet grass, even alongside steep slopes. They handle gravels from the small pea gravel which causes skittering, yet have stiff enough soles to keep my feet from bruising on the heavier gravel of abandoned rail lines. The soles feel harder than vibram, but I was pleased to discover that even those times when I'm striding from wet grass onto a stretch of brick pavers that the hard soles grip well even then. Materials: They don't claim to be waterproof and aren't; I feel the moisture quickly when in sloppy conditions. They do have the advantage of drying quickly and not holding the moisture against my socks. Despite several wet runs, I never got a blister or hot spot. Fit: I wear a size 10.5 Medium in almost every other shoe. For this, I found that the Salomon size 10 was the right length. The toe box is snug at that size, but didn't cause any difficulty while running. The one time I have noticed it being more narrow than I'd like is during an extended climb; after 20-30 minutes of steep work my feet tend to swell wider and felt constrained within this shoe. Durability: Excellent construction throughout. After a few weeks of steady use, I suspect the shoes will hold up well. Well made for a lightweight shoe. All told, I recommend these for trail runners who value lightweight traction.
This shoe is very comfortable and has excellent cushioning. The size runs a little big, half a size smaller than my usual size fit well for me. Pretty aggressive and sticky tread, can't attest for wet traction as of yet. The speed lace system works well, however I wish there was a pocket in the tongue like other Salomons to stow the laces. This shoe just has an elastic strap to tuck it under. But overall a very decent shoe.
