Love the fit of this shoe , the arch support is sufficient, and the cushioning is great as well. I even went and bought a second pair.

cute, but pretty disappointing

Like other reviewers have noted, these are lethal when it's wet. The sole, while just fine on dry cement, acts like a slide when the ground is wet (lots of sliding and skidding). And, after a couple months of light wear, I've already worn through the inner liner on the heel area and around the cuffs. They are more supportive than I would have guessed and nice arch support. Nice for a trip to the coffee shop on a sunny day, but I would not have purchased had I known (no reviews when I bought them). Think carefully before purchasing!

A miracle

I have plantar fasciitis so bad that I've been getting a series of cortisone shots. I have bought and returned 3 pair of shoes in the past few months. Afraid I'd never find something that would make it bearable for me to walk. I took these out of the box and basically left the house with them on. They're on my feet right now while I watch tv!! Aside from plantar f and heel spurs I also have very narrow heels. The velcro fastener is keeping these firmly on my feet so I don't step out of them and so my ortho inserts correct my step in the best way they can. Also, they're cute and I will wear them w jeans, summer skirts and athletic wear. 5 stars from me.

Strap/velcro length minor issue for narrow feet

These shoes are very versatile for casual wear and light activities/hiking/biking. I only wish the Velcro on the straps was placed to be able to tighten more. I have relatively narrow feet, and I plan to stitch in extra Velcro to the strap to help hold them on better. Currently, the Velcro is designed to overlap about 2 inches length, but they rely on less than a centimeter currently due to my feet not being more on the narrow side. Otherwise, they’re great! I love the time savings of a one strap hold and I feel they look modern. I purchased the gray color. I also thought the strap had a blueish tone from the photos, but they do not, just simple gray.

Returning

I have never had a problem with Merrell shoes until now. I wear a size 5.5 which is what I got in these. But these are different than any Merrell shoes I have ever worn. They are very narrow and almost too big, as in long. First off, I could barely loosen the strap because there's not much to loosen. Than once the shoe was on, I couldn't fasten it because it was too short to reach the Velcro . And than, they were too big, like I might have needed a size 5 instead of my normal 5.5. and by that I mean they were too long. Either way I can't wear them because the strap is too short too fasten and they don't come in a wide width. I'll have to return them.

Great shoes but one thing to note

I love these. They’re cute and comfortable; I’m on my feet all day at work and my feet did not hurt. I’ve also gotten tons of compliments. There’s one thing I dislike, which might not be an issue for you depending on your habits and where you live. I’m in a hilly downtown neighborhood in the PNW where there’s a lot of rain and moss, and when going down steep hills on wet sidewalks I’ve found that these can slip - which makes perfect sense if you look at the way the treads are constructed. I’ve avoided this by placing my feet carefully, but if you have mobility issues this may not be the shoe for you.

Love these shoes

I typically wear a 7.5 or 8 and these fit in size 7.5. They are so comfortable. I thought they’d just be for light hikes and dog walks, but I’ve worn them all day everyday since buying them. They’re cushy and sturdy and I really like the retro style. A great shoe!

My new favorite Merrell

This new Merrell feels so good walking around, as soon as I tried them on. It must be the sole, how it carries and supports. The arch support and overall footbed is excellent. The new advanced lacing system is So superior to tie laces, fast, secure, snugs where you need it. Sharper looking than my other Merrells. I selected the black to look dressier with black or blue jeans. These are AWESOME!

Crazy Comfortable

I bought these shoes a few months ago & love them! I get compliments on them, at least once a week. They are supportive/comfortable enough to wear on 3+ mile dog walks; yet versatile enough for me to wear to work (casual office). I typically wear size 7.5 runners (size 8 in low profile runners) & size 7 street shoes. I kept the 7's in these & can wear sport socks with them. I have a wider-than-normal forefoot & narrow heel. I keep the velcro as loose as it goes...and, they fit great, out of the box. I'd buy a second pair in a different color but the first pair still looks new!

Failure after 5 days

I sincerely hope that I happened to get a shoe that failed quality control, but after only 5 days of use the metal grommets that surround the nylon webbing “lacing” on the right shoe separated from the material surrounding them, creating both an unattractive look and a failure point for the shoe. The left shoe does not seem to have this problem. I hope this is a rare quality control issue and I’d be willing to try a replacement pair as I like the design of the shoe and the ease of fastening.
