I wore these boots in hot weather, hiking thru different types of terrains. The grip is out of this world. We had to descend from slanted slabs and i did not have even one slip. They are so comfortable, i don't want to take them off. I even wear them at work. The only fear i have is if Arcteryx discontinues production of this style. Should i buy a couple of pairs since i have never had such a good fitting hiking/scrambling boots for my narrow feet. Arcteryx, please keep making this model, please.
I typically take this boot out on longer and more strenuous adventures (like 25+km hikes or mountaineering objectives) because it feels more heavy duty and like they would last! The rubber in the back and front are perfect for crampons and micro-spikes. The grip is amazing on these shoes and that says a lot for living in a rainy city with lots of rocky hikes. I can scale very steep rock and feel confident that my shoes wont slip. I like that these are waterproof but breathable and my feet never sweat too much. These are literally the best high ankle hiking boot comparably because of all the reasons above. The only downside is that they are super stiff so you have to force your feet to get full range of motion. I don't notice the laces untying by themselves but sometimes because the laces are long they get caught on the other feet hooks (esp when I'm tired) but that's not a product fault just my fault.
I will start by saying I am a trail runner devotee for pretty much all conditions... but they weren't cutting it when I kept finding myself up to my ankles in mud. These are great. Required almost no break in period, no blisters, and are comfortable for boots. My feet have stayed clean and dry even in the mud and wet conditions. For dry and mostly dry trail hikes I will still be in my runners but for any wet muddy outings these are awesome. I usually wear a 7 in daily wear type shoes and 7.5 in athletic and adventure type shoes. Ordered 7.5 in these and they are just right. I also regularly have trouble with heel slip, but not in these!
I replaced my Bora boots with the new Acrux and found the grip to be far superior on rocky terrain, unfortunately the construction is poor quality and have split on the creasing, it would be amazing if the bora boot could be remodelled with the new sole of the Acrux, this would make a super boot which would rival most other competitors, I miss my Bora boots and find myself trailing the internet looking for a replacement.

I wore these excellent boots on a 8 day long hiking trip up in a hike in beautiful northern BC called the Wokkpash. These hiking boots kept my feet nice and cool, dried fast when wet, and were fantastic companions for my feet on my trek. I went over 60 km on foot over those eight days with those boots, and they never failed me once.
I am prone to blisters with new shoes, and the Acrux delighted me by being ready to hike in after just one day of wear around town (I have narrow heels, low volume feet overall, and like a toe box with decent width). My first weekend wearing them I covered 26 miles, both on trail and off that included rock scrambling. I was pleased with the amount of grip provided by the Vibram Megagrip sole in these conditions and the Gore-Tex was rock solid and tested by wading through the edge of a lake where the willows and alder had grown all the way to the water's edge. The lightness of the boot allowed me to remain nimble after more than a dozen miles and many hours on my feet. The weather on this trip was cool to cold and my feet were warm and comfortable. I do suspect that in the heat of summer these boots may be too warm, as GoreTex isn't known for being breathable. The shoe laces were just long enough for me, so people with higher volume feet may find that they need to replace them with longer laces. Super pumped to have these high performing boots!
I work as a conservation photographer in Ontario, Canada and I've been wearing these hiking boots for the majority of this spring/summer. I hike through all kinds of conditions and I've found these boots to be very durable and waterproof. The material is also easier to clean than other boots I've had in the past. I do find that the laces come untied often, so I would consider switching those out. I most often wear a size 7 shoe (sometimes 7.5), and find that the size 7 in this boot fits well.
I purchased my Acrux boots back in June. The boots are extremely comfy, look great, and are very waterproof. However, the boot already looks pretty beat up and I've only owned them for 5-6 months. I would understand this if I spent the last half year hardcore hiking in them, yet I've only worn them at work, which just involves walking around on concrete floors. The lamination at the bottom of the boot is separating and I fear soon water will leak into the boots. Though they are great looking and comfortable boots, I worry that they will fail me much sooner than my Bora's did (which lasted 3 years).
I was super excited to pull these shoes out of the box - they look great! Performance has been awesome as well. The size is true to fit and they are comfortable and sturdy. I like how they hug my feet - they feel like they are somewhat moulded. These are my new go tos when backpacking in the Sierra - they are comfortable uphill and downhill. Sole is stiff enough to provide support, but not enough that they are uncomfortable. Great shoes!
This is my second pair. Bought my first pair 2 or 3 years ago and swore they were the best boots I’ve ever owned!!! Tried to buy online this fall and ordered a size 8.5. The right boot had something horribly wrong in the right foot arch. (Left boot fit like a glove). So I sent them back. Arc’teryx sent me an another pair. Once again the left boot is perfect and although better … the right boot once again presses into the arch of my foot. (And no… it’s NOT my feet.) I think Arc’teryx NEEDS to look at the equipment they make the right boots size 8.5 with because they have a problem!
