Keen's footbed has always been exceptionally roomy. This boot is advertised as having a snugger and more contoured footbed than most Keens, but it's really closer to a C width -- there's no room for the foot at all (especially in the toe box). A "2E" or "W" in this boot would be more on par with a standard-width boot. It also feels very unsupportive, especially around the ankles -- more like a hiking shoe that happens to have a couple extra eyelets than a true boot.
These boots run narrower than other boots... they do, however, widen over time and use. These boots provide great traction and support (+ @ the ankle area) while being good at keeping water out. They are okay for low impact work (farming/gardening)... however they do seem to be breaking after a month of hardscaping.
The boot fit very well and is comfortable. I only gave it 3 stars because the cable suspension for the eyelet lacing system broke the second time I wore them. I am deployed overseas and had to have my wife send these to me so I can't easily return them. I repaired the by cutting the end of the cable and super gluing it back in place.
I love the boot and have had great experience on all types of weather. However after two months the laces on one the boots broke. REI agreed to send me a replacement pair of laces. I would have given a five rating if not for the laces.
Third time I tied the laces, the wire that goes around back of boot broke. They are very comfortable, wore for two days, but the wire seems to be a gimmick that is the Achilles heel, literally, of this boot
These boots were comfortable as soon as I put them on.
