Better than expected
I bought one of the Osprey Rook 50’s for my little brothers intro to lightweight backpacking. After looking over the pack and adjusting it for me, it fit better than my Arc Blast 55 and seemed to hold the same gear with more space left over. Granted, this pack weighs twice as much, but seemed to carry the load better. Not to mention, you get other features the Zpacks lacks such as hip pockets, a larger belt, more adjustable pack frame, and although smaller by 5 liters, it holds more gear in the main compartment( the difference in volume measurement, main compartment space vs total pack volume). I liked the pack so much, I decided to get one for myself and with my UL loadout, my weight is only 2lbs more. It may be budget minded, but not cheaply made by any means and it’s less than half the price of my current pack.

uncomfortable
Bought this bag for a backpacking trip into the Grand Canyon. It was very uncomfortable. The shoulder metal on the back hurt. I tried adjusting but didn’t making a difference.

Rook 50L Usage Review

This Osprey Rook 50L backpack is really convenient and suits my daily travels perfectly. The only downside is its lack of an external attachment system, which needs to be added separately. However, it does have attachment points where I can add my desired elastic cords and trekking pole attachments. I particularly like its angled water bottle holders, although they tend to fall when I bend down to pick things up. It might be due to my adjustment of the straps. Nevertheless, overall, the experience with it is still very satisfying. The two waist belts can even accommodate a power bank, an iPhone, and some protein bars. I really love it.

Absolutely

I served in the Army with my wife for 21 years and I am amazed at how good this pack is. Its just right with one exception that we both agree on . That it needs a pocket in the center of the backpack for tickets and maps and a passport ETC. Other than that very comfortable and just the right size for travelling. Durable construction and the material its made of seems tough enough. Finally I would say that they should market this pack to the U.S. Army as a patrol pack with some modifications. Awesome pack and we will be taking these with us to Ireland and Germany to visit friends.

Definitely worth having for the money.

Let me fist just say how durable and well constructed this pack is. It has so much room and accessibility it's unreal. I would say that the lid is a little tight getting things in and out of it due to the frame being in the way of pulling something out, but other than that this pack is all you'll need. I would even be brave enough to say that it can be used for a through hike with comfort items.

Perfect starter pack

I love this pack. I've had it for a couple of years, it's gone truck camping, backpacking, long trips, short trips. It carries a lot more than I'd imagine, the waist band and top compartments are perfect, the bladder system works great, it's comfortable enough on a long hike, comes with an attached rain cover. This one will definitely stay in the rotation forever.

I dig it.

Very happy with this back. I use it for day hikes and light over nighters. It's so comfortable a d suits my needs perfectly. It feel a bit small inside and I wish I'd had better pockets for smaller things. Great rain cover, holds my two water bottles and trekking poles, it's everything I wanted.

Good experience

Hard to find in store at times, but that’s okay app is easy to use while shipping is pretty timely. Also my product was securely shipped with no damage. Looking forward to getting onto trail with it.
