These boots fit like gloves. I took some time to break them in before taking them on trail and it was worth it. The leather really forms to your foot over time. I have wide feet, but for me the toe box fit perfectly. It did take some time experimenting with different lacing methods to get the perfect fit so I would encourage any potential buyer to look up tips for lacing up hiking boots if these or any others give you hot spots etc. I do find myself re-lacing these, or having to tighten them after a few hours of use, but the leather is conforming, and the laces still stretching so its fine with me. Im looking forward to future adventures with these.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wore these boots for 4 years walking the maine coastline. Always kept my feet dry. Highly recommend.
While there are many features of this boot that were desirable which is why I purchased them. They are nearly unwearable because of no padding at the back of the ankle which has caused sever pain on my achilles. I purchased the end of last season and have wore less than a dozen times. If I can get through a day wearing them, the next day my achilles is so sore I can no longer wear them. I have always been satisfied with my Keen purchases, but this one is a loser. I know it has been a flag ship boot for Keen of many years. If you buy wear them for a an hour or so indoors to insure they do not cause the same problem I have with them.
I use shoes for what they’re meant for so with these keen shoes I exclusively use them for hiking in the woods. Iv had them for 2 years and they are holding up incredibly well! There isn’t a single stitch ripped or and rubber that’s separated. They’re basically in mint condition! The break in period was quite bad to be honest and took like 2 weeks for the odd pain I was feeling at my ankle to break in but once it did these boots have felt like walking with armor on through the woods! These boots obviously wouldn’t be good for super long distance hikes and my feet do tend to sweat in them a bit but it’s worth having the waterproofing and protection. I’m looking forward to the day these things fall apart so I can get myself another pair of hiking shoes but by the way the boot looks now it seems like iv got a few more years with them……. They are a great boot once they’re broken in, and when they broken in they feel like an extension of your own self..
Right off the bat the left one felt like it dug into a nerve at the upper part of my ankle. I really liked the boots and realized it was almost freezing temps when I got these so I decided I'd just do my best to break them in. It took honestly a month of wearing them every weekend and going on a couple hikes for the weird pain in my upper ankle to go away but now that it's gone I'm happy I stuck with it! These boots seem extremely well made, came with extra laces, and aren't full of flashy reflectors and stuff like that which I just think is very ugly. OH, and sizing ran normal size for me, not too big or too small.
These are perhaps the most comfortable hiking boots I have worn. I have had them for just over a year and the soles have detached from the boot. I wear them almost everyday to walk my dog between 1-2 miles a day. Unfortunately, I will be looking for a new brand. One the bright side, the REI staff member who sold them to me was knowledge and helpful.
I bought these less than 4 months ago so that I would keep my feet dry while walking my dog in the winter. I’ve only worn them for the morning walks and the soles are already gone. The rest of the boot is like new but the soles didn’t hold up. Pricey boot for less than 4 months of limited use.
I'm at the end of my second pair of these boots. I have other Keen footwear, and i'm a fan of the style and brand. With this particular boot, my first pair was excellent - I wore the lugs off the sole and re-ordered. The second pair I wore on a hike across some moors in the UK, and they got soaked. Yes, they kept my feet dry, but the leather never recovered. The leather stretched to the point that wearing these boots is now a thick pair of socks venture, and I have a wide foot. I would prefer a boot without the waterproof lining, as they make my feet hot, but other than that, yes, I'll probably order again. True to size and width (initially).

I love the classic styling of this boot....reminds me of the old hiking boots from the 70s/early 80s. The red races are the icing on the cake and complete the look. But looks are not all that this boot is about. They are very comfortable right out of the box and do not need any real breaking in to be molded to your feet. A couple of days of wearing and they are good to go. The leather upper is top quality and the rubber outsole is robust. The midsole cushioning is plush and the fit of the boot is perfect. I cannot think of anything negative about them. I wear a 12 and they were a true to size fit. Please do not ever stop making this boot!
Somewhere around 15 years and probably 1,000 miles ago, I got a set of Keen Pyrenees for fee. After requesting a new set of insoles for my Winterport, they let me pick a brand new set of boots instead. (I still have the outstanding Winterports. ) I randomly picked these. Absolutely the best civilian hikers I’ve ever owned. I was both Army and Marine infantry, so I’ve put plenty of miles down and I value a good pair of boots. Roomy, comfortable and incredibly durable. I just bought an identical pair. I can’t believe how inexpensive they are for the quality you get.
