Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".
PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.
TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Warm and true to size
I'm pretty happy with this as a puffy jacket for layering, but I think I'm going to return it. Why? Because I read a lot of these reviews before purchasing, and almost all of the plus-size reviews said to size up, because the jacket runs small. I typically wear a 2x, so of course I got a 3x. It's roomy and comfy, but since it's big, my midriff is getting drafts. So let's be clear -- my only real complaint is that REI doesn't carry a full range of plus-size clothes in their store, so I'm relegated to buying online and guessing about size and fit (and color and texture). I'd ditch REI in a heartbeat if a competitor opened up a store where I could try on plus-size clothes in real life and not have to deal with guesswork and returns.
Finally, a comfortable plus size coat!
I needed a compact down jacket for a trip. Something to be able to roll up and pack away if not needed. I wanted it to be stylish, comfortable and compact. Not easy to find for a plus size person. Usually I find big, bulky & I hate wearing it. Not this time! Seriously, I love this coat! It's so great. The shoulders fit right, across the back is giving & comfortable. I don't feel like the arms are snug. I also like the length. It hits just below my waist. Not too short. Arm length is also perfect! My wrists won't be cold! I can't sat say enough great things about it! It does run small. I sized up and it's perfect. Do it. Buy the coat!
good quality
The womens jacket was well made and did not shed down. Unfortunately the womens sizes are short in the body, even in the XL size. By contrast, I purchased the mens jacket in tall XL for better proportions, but it was very poor quality. I wore the mens jacket once and most of the down came out on the first wearing. By contrast the womens jacket was good quality but well proportioned for a taller person. The quilted down sections were quite full and fluffy, and did not leak out all of the down on wearing the jacket. Unfortunately the womens jacket is very short/just does not fit as well. The mens regular length in this jacket in the store also seemed to be of better quality.
Very good basic down jacket
This is the 2nd winter I've had this jacket, I wear it hiking 1-2x per week in the fall/winter and it's held up nicely. It fits very well, is very warm and also breathable. I agree with other reviewers it's a bit short in the waist but not extremely so, I am 5"9" and the 2x length is fine on me and allows for active movement. I usually wear 1x but bought a 2x to wear over layers and that was a good choice. The only complaint is that after about a year of use, the zipper caught on the little inside flap and ripped a hole in it which I had to patch. Overall it's a very good down jacket for the price.
Warm, cute and affordable
This is such a wonderful, cozy jacket. I've worn it for three seasons now and it's still in great condition. It fits true to size, is plenty warm, lightweight, and has huge pockets (if you know women's clothing, you know why this is a big deal). For size reference, I'm 52-49-55/apple shaped and bought the 3X so I could wear a thick sweater underneath without it being too tight and it's perfect. I have a fairly short/average length torso and it completely covers my butt. Some other reviewers said it's too boxy, but that cut works perfectly for me so if you're triangle- or pear-shaped, this might not be the right fit. I also love that it comes in cute colors (a rarity for plus clothing!) and is a really great price. I even bought the vest version in another color. I appreciate REI making more accessible clothing, both in price and size, and would love to see this extended to a 6X+.
boxy boxy boxy
The fit is as boxy as it looks on the model, big in the chest and shoulders, snug in the hip. I normally wear a 16-18, and the 2x was too snug, the 3x was too big in the bust. Sleeves were too long for me, but probably just right on someone taller. The jacket isn't particularly technical, there's no flap under the zipper and the zipper snags on the fabric every time (though in the few zips I've zipped it, it hasn't damaged the fabric). There isn't a stuff sack built into this jacket, which is something I expected to find. There are two cavernous pockets that are built into the lining, they'd help the jacket make a good pillow, but not help you with your packing. The fabric is incredibly soft and feels really good against my skin.
Functional, but certainly not flattering
I like this coat, it's light weight and warm. It also fits well in the shoulders and the sleeves. The problem is, it is an awkwardly short length that is not flattering on even a normal length torso. It will serve it's purpose just fine, I bought it to wear walking my dogs, but I don't be winning any best dressed awards in it. I am actually looking forward to being able to layer it under a waterproof shell just to hide it's weird length. Add another 2-3 inches in length and it would be a real winner!
Unflattering
I absolutely love that REI carries more plus sizes, but this one misses the mark. Yes, it really is that short. Also runs very small. I thought the coat was unflattering on the models, but assumed that my short waisted self could make it work. This style just makes us plus size gals look even wider! 5’7 Size 2x
Would be great if I weren't covered in feathers
Very warm jacket. Packs small. Fits me well. I'm 5-8 and weigh 220 lbs. Average build/arm length. Seams are sturdy and zipper works well. Unfortuately, I get feathers on whatever I'm wearing to the point I must carry a lint roller. Even then? There are literally dozens of feathers left on me and it's nearly impossible to remove them unless I use duct tape.
Not flattering
I wish REI would make flattering clothing for plus size women. As I’m finding with most of my recent REI purchases, this puffer was not flattering at all. While it fit on my hips, which is wider than the rear of my body, this was too big on my shoulder and chest. The plus side - it kept me warm in windy Chicago.
