These are perfect for anyone using round bars. We took a gamble on this carrier system despite a lack of reviews, and were very pleasantly surprised at the quality and the stability at highway speeds. Our previous system was Jayhook Yakima, which had a failure at highway speed due to the plastic base cracking (refunded under warranty). Unlike the Yakima systems, the Kuat system has no removable rubber pads that can come off and compromise the grip to the crossbars. The included straps are of good quality and the build in loop to thread the straps through was great for stability. Overall, light years ahead of the Jayhook by Yakima and we will be looking at Kuat for other products.

I wouldn't recommend for Yakima round bars
Felix

I ordered these and really like the look and design. But when I mounted them to our older yakima round bars, it was not possible to get them tight. They seem to be designed well for wider, oval bars like most factory roof racks or newer aftermarket racks. The issue was that when I went to put the kayak in the cradles, if I didn't do both at the same time, one of the cradles would shift. I ended up returning the rack.

Great Racks, Durable, Drive with Confidence

These are the first kayak racks we have ever purchased. We have used them 5 times now and have not had any problems. Love how easy the instructions were. Each time we load and unload the process gets quicker and quicker. Durable, seeing other brands on the roads that are flimsy. These are worth the price.

Easy to install, easy to use with sit-on-top

Bought a 10' sit-on-top (50 lbs) and needed a way to transport on my Crosstrek. I have the factory Subaru aero bars. The Kuat rack installed easily (never installed anything on a roof rack before) and was easily adjusted when I realized the rear hook leaned toward the back of the car. Currently working on perfecting putting the kayak into the hooks while solo but kayak was securely fastened, all the straps worked great with my Crosstrek, and felt very comfortable driving with my kayak on top of my car!

Simple and Solid

Super solid rack that has keeps your boat safe and in place on the highway. However, most of our paddling locations don't require us to go over 40MPH so we press the rack into double duty. I probably wouldn't try this at highway speed but for local spots - no problem. I only wish there was a locking mechanism but removing the rack takes 2 minutes and reinstalling takes 5 minutes.

Love This Rack System!

This rack system is solid! The installation is easy! That was probably one of my favorite things about it. I very much appreciated that it came with two different lengths of screws depending on the cross-bars installed on the car. The build quality is excellent and I had a very easy time transporting my kayak down to the water. The package comes with several straps for all your tie-down needs! I also like that there is a strap hole installed in both J Hooks. This is an all around solid product and I will definitely be buying from Kuat again!

Simple, attractive, and durable.

Simple, attractive, and thoughtfully designed. I settled this rack after trying the Yakima J Low and the Yakima Deck Hand. The Kuat is built to last. I’m not as confident about the other two.

Simple and functional.

Works great. Used for well over 1000 miles now. Went from Yakima rollers to this and am happy. Only wish Kuat would have a lockable option.

Bow and Stern Lines snapped

The first time I used the rack my bow and stern line straps snapped. I don't believe I tied them down too tight. But it appeared that the weave/material they were made from is much too thin for that kind of application, i.e. force from a car driving down the freeway.
