Great kayak!

I did a lot -- a lot of video watching on YouTube to find out more about this type of kayak as well as similar ones. I combed every comment on REI, Reddit, YouTube and elsewhere before making my final decision. Lastly, I really had wished I could have tried out a few before making my purchase. With all that said -- I still decided to make the purchase from REI -- planned to take it out once or twice and return it if I didn't like it due to REI's amazing return plan. I've had the kayak out about 5-6 times now since buying and I'm keeping it. I'm six feet tall, 185lbs, 11.5 size foot and the kayak fits well. There is even MORE length and width as its not as snug as I thought it would be. I'll bring the hip pads in a bit more. While this isn't the first time I've been in a kayak -- it is the first kayak I've purchased and owned. The kayak has a good stability for a thin kayak -- before reaching the tipping point. If you wanted a kayak that is very stable -- this is not your kayak. The kayak feels fast -- and take very little effort to get going and keep going. Turns are a breeze. At my size I found a 210-230 paddle works... I'm playing more with the shorter version and I think I may be hooked.

Fast and lightweight

I paddled a Wilderness Systems Pungo 120 and a Tsunami 145 for a few years. Both are good kayaks, but I wanted a lighter and faster kayak. The Sitka LT fits the bill. It is easy to maneuver both on and off the water. It is a joy to paddle. I like everything thing about the kayak, except for the skeg. When I deploy it less than half-way, it will not stay in position. Per customer service, I attempted to fix the problem by bending the skeg cable further. This procedure has helped, but now the skeg control no longer feels smooth. However, this has not interfered with the overall performance of the kayak. Speaking of customer service, Eddyline customer service has been great! My kayak came with a marked up hatch cover and a torn seat back cover. Eddyline sent me a new hatch cover and seat back cover in a few days. I look forward to many adventures with my Eddyline kayak! I am a 63-year-old male. I am 6’ tall and weigh 185 lbs. The LT fits me perfectly.

Love this boat

Decided on the Eddyline Sitka LT, first Kayak I've owned, after a lot of on line research and a test drive at a dealer. I've rented and borrowed kayaks for many years so I'm not a complete novice. I couldn't be happier with this boat. Light enough for me to carry it around singlehanded, responsive with a great fit. I'm 6'1" and weigh 182 lbs. The red pearl finish is drop dead gorgeous and the lines of the boat are pleasing to the eye for sure. I felt like I won the "REI lottery" after snapping one of these boats on line, probably a few minutes after it was put into inventory.

A Jewel of a Kayak

This is an amazing Kayak. It is fast and maneuverable. It is lightweight and has an excellent fit and finish. I was worried that it may be tippy, but I was pleased to find that it was very stable. It is very well braced in the cockpit. The seat is comfortable and adjustable. It has a skeg to control the wind effect on tracking. Coming from a heavy flat bottom lake kayak of similar length, this kayak is FAST! Eddyline kayaks have been hard to come by, but patience pays off. I am looking forward to years of enjoyable kayaking with this jewel.

Beautifully designed and built kayak.

Very impressed and pleased with this kayak. I'm a 66 year old male, 160# and 5'8", and the Sitka LT is roomy enough for comfort while still feeling like you and the boat are working together. My other kayaks are a 10 year old Necky Manitou 13 (very snug cockpit) and a more recent Hurricane Santee 126 (comfy rec boat), and the Sitka pretty much outperforms both in all facets. I haven't paddled a longer boat but the 14'6" Sitka is noticeably faster than my other two (+/-4mph vs +/-3mph in good conditions). I kayak several times a week during mild weather mostly on NC inland lakes. This may seem like a small detail but what really improves my typical morning outings is the day hatch (coffee thermos, binocs and cell phone) and just the overall functionality of the boat. Adjustable and removable seat is a big plus and the skeg does exactly what it needs to in wind or chop. Great design and attractive package. Highly recommended.

Near Perfection!

Having paddled all sorts of1 3-14 1/2' touring boats for 2 years rented from an outfitter, I was looking for the "one boat to rule them all." For me the Eddyline Sitka LT is that boat. Being a new boat this year, there was no place I could go to even sit in one much less demo. But I traveled around to demo all else I was interested in (Current Designs Vision, Delta 14, Hurricane Sojourn, and demoed boats I had been paddling-- Castine 140, Tsunami 140 etc as comparison. I like the Delta 14 --another light weight, thermoformed (hard plastic) boat the best of those demoed but found the shape and size of the keyhole cockpit too restrictive for my legs on entry/exit and while paddling. Also going as fast as I could...which was not all that fast. Verdict on Delta14-- really beautiful build but "a bit of a barge" with great storage. Eddyline has the Denali for the "big guys" 200+ lbs.(rebranded as Sitka XT) and the Samba (now the Sitka ST) for small people about 130lbs and less but the new Sitka LT, is the medium/Goldilocks/just right I have been looking for as a fun-to-paddle, playful kayak for an M/L woman. I took a leap of faith ordering it for delivery to an REI store along with the Thule Hullavator I would need to cartop it on my SUV by myself. Here in NJ we have medium to larger lakes, long interior rivers like the Delaware, tidal estuaries and ocean bays. I also take trips to Chesapeake Bay and the Carolinas. I searched for a 14 ft-(give or take 1/2 ft. )kayak that could handle sea kayaking, yet not be too long for our rivers. I was also looking forward to consistently paddle the same boat for skill building. Also as a 5'6" female of a certain age, I knew my tricky shoulder and knee would require a lighter weight boat for loading. I looked at all the thermoform (Hard Plastic) boats I could find. The websites all say 49 lb for Sitka LT but the tag said 47Lb and so do the reps' videos online. Based on lifting it, I think it is 47 lbs. The cockpit is 1/2" wider and 1.2" longer and the deck height is 1/2" more, than Delta 14 but it is the U-shape keyhole that makes it easier to get in and out of the boat. The seat is very supportive/comfortable to my long torso with side hip padding built in and a nice angle for leg comfort. There are thigh pads under the deck for bracing.( I will be adding some foam padding there to get a better fit/contact.) I move up the seat for my short legs-- there are enough adjustments for someone 6- 6'2" to paddle this. This boat is 23.5" wide and the first boat that did not stress my shorter arms-- I developed a "high angle" paddling style out of necessity-- the lower and narrower deck-- than the similar length Old Towns and Wilderness boats-- was a real relief and much more fun. Primary/initial stability is less than Castine and Tsunami but I learned quickly how to get in/get going. Secondary stability is awesome. Last night doing Jleans and bracing in a class, I got up on edges and leaned with the best of them and Yep, the guys in the Tsunami and the Castine capsized. SitkaLT held firm! The fast, shallow V shaped hull is efficient, such fun to paddle, nimble as can be, with a sliding skeg so no rudder drag and controls to deal with yet extra help tracking in strong winds. Tracks straight and does not have the weather cocking problems of the Soujourns or the rudder controls of the Delta. Sitka LT is also the fastest boat of it's size I have paddled to date. I don't know if she can keep up with the 17' sea kayaks others bring on our ocean trips, but I anticipate a vast improvement. In addition to being so much fun, this is one beautiful boat with the "red pearl" paint and beautiful styling. for camping items.
