Overpriced, poorly designed

Bought this as it was touted as a "universal" helmet mount for Bontrager lights. There is an second adapter zip tied to the package for rear lights like the Flare RT. DO NOT USE THIS ADAPTER! Most adapters have a tab/lever that allows you to slide the light on and off, as in the picture. Unfortunately the design for this rear mount is such that once you snap your light into it, there is NO WAY TO REMOVE THE plastic adapter without damaging your light in the process. Not to mention the band loosens very easily because it isn't at all securely attached (there is a "clamp" to tension the fabric band but it is not at all secure) and it doesn't take much for the light to end up flopping around. The only thing "universal" about this mount is the universally bad design of all the pieces. And the price...eye-watering.

High Quality Mount if Fits Helmet

I purchased this for a friend who uses a Bontrager Trek helmet. Tried it on my Lazer G1 MIPS helmet to see if I should purchase one for myself. It may work with a small light such as Bontrager's Ion 200 RT in the front or the Flare RT in the rear, but it did not tighten adequately to stabilize the Bontrager Pro RT on the Lazer G1. Although the mount adjusts to move the white beam up and down, the light beam is too high for recumbent riders unless they prefer a very upright position. Same problem exists for the rear Flare RT. I gave the mount a 4 star rating even though it is not a good fit on my Lazer helmet and points the light beam skyward on my recumbent. This is a tribute to the quality of the helmet mount. It is thoughtfully engineered or quality materials and easy to adjust as conditions change.

Definitely not a great mount

I'm glad I tried this out but know it's not for me. First of all, the mount loosens up on my helmet after maybe 5-10 miles (more later). Second, I discovered having a relatively heavy light (ion pro rt) on my head doesn't agree with my neck when riding my gravel bike. My mtb with a more upright seating position is much better but still a heavy light. This is something to consider if you haven't biked with a light on your helmet before. From another reviewer: ".............Not to mention the band loosens very easily because it isn't at all securely attached (there is a "clamp" to tension the fabric band but it is not at all secure) and it doesn't take much for the light to end up flopping around. The only thing "universal" about this mount is the universally bad design of all the pieces. And the price...eye-watering." All I can say is, yep, totally agree. I'll be designing and 3d printing my own helmet clamp using the light mount provided as at least the light is securely mounted to the mount.

holds well but could hold tighter

This strap holds light on helmet well enough. The light I’m using is the highest end model so has some weight to it. So the light does bounce around a bit when on rough terrain. I wish it could strap down a bit more snug to the helmet. But it’s not a major issue and probably kind of impossible to make happen when you are creating a one size fits all helmet product. So overall a good product

Not for Wave Cell helmet.

Unfortunately I wasnt told by the employee that this wouldnt work on a Wave Cell helmet. I had a Circuit with magnetic attachments for head and tail light and hoped to replicate that with my new helmet…but alas.

Oops? Missing Tightening Knoib & Headlight Bracket

missing key components to affix this to my helmet for tunnel passage. I want to return this to the REI store in Pittsburgh and then get a new package to open in the store before leaving to make sure the missing components in the new purchase are included.

Good Versatile Mount

Pair this with the Ion RT PRO and you have a sweet night time mountain biking setup. This does the job well without having to stick a mount to your helmet.
