Great Pack Highly Recommend
I initially bought this because I had a neck injury and couldn't carry a day pack/bladder with shoulder straps, but having now used this regularly. I don't think I would go back to a regular day pack. I was looking for a way to carry my lunch, 2litres of water, snakebite kit, blister packs, snacks, Leatherman, sunscreen, hand sanitizer. I used this over a 9 day (day hiking only no camping on track) 135km hike and it made my life so easy. #1 I had to prioritize what I packed = I carried less weight #2 My water was very easy to reach #3 the weight felt very stable right over my hips as I was going up and steep and rocky ground. #4 I had no pack on my back meaning I got a lot less sweaty and my clothes breathed much easier making for a much more comfy hike #5 when the weather was changing between rain and fine I could strap the pack over my coat, when it wasn't raining just take my arms out of the coat and let it hang over my waist meaning I could keep cool and not sweat. In the rain just put my arms back in and BAM raincoat. I now use it for every hike. It isn't large enough to really fit the rain jacket as well as lunch and everything else, but I could easily attach a jacket by putting it in a crush sack and strapping it to the top, this does reduce you access to the top pocket, but I mainly only stored lunch and other thing you take out for stops. The Good Can swap out the bottles it comes with to larger bottles to increase your water carrying to 2 liters. The bottles it came with are durable comfortable and easy to reach without taking the pack off. Plenty of pocket so you know where to put things and accessible belt pockets. Good sized main pocket fit a good sized hiking lunch. Quality, zips ties and straps solid under load. The Bad If it is very loaded either with water (+2L) or other stuff the belt can sit across you bladder, meaning you need to pee more. but this only happens if you are pushing it past the weight it was designed to carry.
Water bottle not worth it
I bought this Talon 6 intending to use it for simple day hikes; however, at home I loaded the pack including two water bottles. It was difficulty to get the bottles in and then it took away space for the main pack pocket. The bottle holders are lacking in design. I am returning this pack to the store. Osprey was so close to having a great pack, but the water bottle holders do not have enough room. All they needed was some stretch material on the wings to allow for expansion when water bottle is loaded. Instead, the problem is the wings sewn solid with no give. However, if the pack is not to capacity, you can get by with this pack and the deficient water bottle holders.
Excellent pack
This pack is a jewel. I thought first it would only be good on half-day (no lunch) hikes in the Summer in the local foothills with zero chance of rain. Since then I've found I can use it on long day hikes in the Cascades and with a chance of showers (you need a very light rain jacket). I can get all the small items I usually carry (cell phone, sunscreen, bug juice, knife, iodine tabs, TP, OTC meds, couple of energy bars) into the surprisinglhy capacious side pockets. Then I can load it with 2 .75 liter bottles, mini first aid kit, light pullover, rain jacket, and lunch. I can use the cords to stow a pair of BD Z-poles on top. I stronglhy recomment this very versatile pack.
I was at Pack Rat
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was at Pack Rat in Fayetteville Ar. when I found this butt pack, due to the heat around this place while mountain biking I figured for the summer time I would put away my Osprey ruck. Got online ordered one and I give it 5 stars. Holds my first aid kit and some snacks along with other small items and 2 water bottles. I've had it to Kessler mt and Slaughter Pen for some 15 mi rides. This will be my go to spring through fall. The balance is good on the tech trails, never know it's there. Great product, you will not be sorry for any Osprey products you purchase. Thanks for the great products.
Heading to Kauai with this perfect pack
Perfect size and durable. I need a pack that is water resistant. this fits the bill
Great hiking and running pack
Roomy waist pack, found it works best for me wearing it backwards for trail running and backpacking. A great addition to backpacking if worn backwards.
Not very impressive
Looks nice, but could have been so much better. If carrying the entire load on a lumbar/waist pack, using a 1-inch strap and buckle for the waist is insufficient and uncomfortable. Side pockets should be larger. 6L is just not quite enough room in the main compartment, a bit more volume would have been better. The silly small curved bottles are not useful, I will be using larger round bottles, which fit but further eat into the internal volume. This is the first Osprey product that I have found disappointing, I have six other Osprey packs.

Yes, would buy it again
Purchased this for a trip where I was going to be doing a lot of day hiking. I was able to carry most of the gear that I wanted to carry with no problems. The two pockets on the hip belt are useful for small item (point and shoot camera, insect repellent, small first aid kit, etc. The bottles do not stand up on their own, however, this was not a problem for me. The main compartment held my wind breaker/rain jacket and a few other small items. My main complaint would be to have a wider hip belt, maybe 2 inches wide.

Could be better
The strap (and buckle) is too thin and it gets uncomfortable when fully loaded. Curved bottles are not practical, I changed them to 0.5 L bottles. Side pockets sit in the back (not at the sides) and are not easily accessible. side pockets are bigger than expected, I put a lot of stuff in there: mobile, wallet, foldable water bowl, map, etc. the main compartment is roomie. I use it for trail running and day hikes. The thin strap makes it uncomfortable for long hikes (or runs) but good for biking.

Great pack when hiking with binoculars
This is a great pack to use when hiking with binoculars. A traditional backpack's straps interfere with a binoculars harness, making it difficult to remove or adjust either. This waist pack is roomy enough for a long hike - sandwiches, snacks, phone, sunscreen, extra layers, wallet, sunglasses case. And it can fit 2 big nalgene bottles. It's also very comfortable, speaking as a person with a long history of back problems. I love that the waist straps cinch by pulling the tabs forward, rather than away from your body. The only issue is that I have some difficulty accessing the zippered compartments by feel; I often have to remove the pack to undo the zippers (this could be solved by adding a larger zipper pull, such as a caribiner). This pack is advertised as a men's pack, but I am a woman and it fits great.
