Good quickdraw, nice features, except price/weight

I finally had a chance to test out this quickdraw set on real rock a couple of weeks ago. Overall, it's a nice set, but I can't say that the price is worth the weight savings for me. I'm comparing this set to my BD wire gate draws that I have been using for 4 years. Pros of the Petzl: 27g lighter per set Formed shape at end of biner to keep rope in the optimal loading position Biner thickness *might* make for slightly less rope drag when lowering Tapered dogbone *might* make it easier to hold onto Slightly better load rating when open (10kN vs. 8) Biner has a smooth nose, which makes unhooking easier (rope of bracket side) Pros of the BD: A little more rigid (might make it easier to clip the rope) Slightly better load ratings closed (24kN long, 8 cross vs. 22/7) About 2/3rds the cost of the Petzl Where they're equal: Petzl is a bit narrower, but a bit taller - I felt no difference in ability to clip the bolted bracket Single wire vs. wire loop - I felt no difference in clipping So if the lower weight is worth the money for you, go for the Ange Finesse. Otherwise, for me I'd call it a wash. While I appreciate the attention to the various design features, in use I did not feel much difference - this draw just quietly did its job with no fuss. The smooth nose is a nice feature, but I feel like what I would appreciate more in my next set would be a bent gate like the Petzl Spirit or Djinn.

Very nice draws. Hard to find much to complain about with Petzl products in general. The biners feel good in hand. The gate action is smooth. Hanging the draw and clipping rope is easy with the rounded edges. The length is nice to have, not a must. I think the biggest benefit of these draws is the lightweight. We'll see how durability holds up, I've only used these a couple times so far. In general, Petzl products last forever and nothing leads me to think otherwise so far.

Quality all-around draw

Most of my sport climbing quickdrawss are pretty heavy, so this Petzl draw was a refreshing change. Feels super durable, but not as heavy as many of my other all-around sport draws i.e. would grab and hang on this dogbone, but still light enough that I would take on a longer route/trad climbing. The single-wire gate looks weird to me but is pretty smooth feeling to use. Overall, I would say that this is a solid, relatively light draw for many scenarios.

Great all around carabiner

Great all around carabiner, light enough fir multipitch climbing, yet big easy to clip carabiners which give me no issues, and not hard to grip the dogbone for sport climbing given how light and thin it is. Obviously not as easy to hang from the dogbone as a spirit express, but it’s expected at this low weight. Gates work perfectly and are easy to clip, its keylock design helps avoid getting the rope stuck when cleaning.

Good draw for almost any situation

I've used the smaller Ange biners for various things, but I really like the larger size in this draw. The gate openings are much easier to clip-either to the rope or the bolt. While the open/close action isn't quite as nice as the full diameter gate versions of Petzl biners, it's still pretty darn good. The smooth nose makes it super easy to get on and off slings and bolts. The opening actually is wider than it seems when you first look at them, and they are no problem to clip (I wouldn't want to use the smaller size ange.) They are very light weight, and I would consider taking a few on trad climbs. While I didn't "French free" any routes, the reasonably thick sling seems like it would give a decent grip. Overall, they have a nice feel and look to them. I can't think of a situation where they wouldn't work well. While I received mine for free, I can see the price as being a obstacle for having a full set of these bad boys.

Super Light Weight and Easy to Use!

The Petzl Ange Quickdraw is super light and easy to use. Good Pressure on the gate and locks in fast. I wasn't quite sure about the single narrow gate and the bottom tab but it definitely easy to use. I got a weight of 82grams and sling length was a cm off compared to the specs provided none the less still a great product.

good all-round quickdraw

The is a very well thought out piece of equipment. in actual execution, it has a few minor shortcomings, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons. this is very lightweight with easy to use carabiners. the design of the gates with the smooth ends made it easy to clip into anchors and the plastic forms on the gates made it easy to get the rope clipped in. the execution on the dogbone was a little bit of a letdown. the webbing used wasn't cut evenly so it is not only thicker on rope end compared to the anchor end, it is also thicker on either the wall side or the climber side, depending on which way you anchor it. this meant, for me, that anchoring with the gate to the right meant it was easy to grab. on the other hand, anchoring with the gate to the left made it harder to grab. aside from that, i appreciate the details that went into the biners. the bone simply needs a little refinement. otherwise it's a good all-round quickdraw with wide baskets and lightweight portability

These are great. REI lists them as 17cm but they’re actually 15.5 (exactly 6inches)

So Smooth

Let me start by saying, wow what an amazing quickdraw. Petzl has done it again! First off, this quickdraw is so light, smooth and very easy to use. The gate on this draw is very easy to clip into the bolts and also clip my 9.8 rope. I never had the feeling that I felt my gate would be left open or close slowly. It was a quick snap and was truly reliably on the wall. In addition to this, the Ange quickdraw is extremely lightweight. I have used a variety of other quickdraws from other companies but the main drawback was the weight. Having 6-12 draws on my harness (depending on the route) weighs you down plus the rope as well. The last thing I want to worry about is being weighted down by multiple draws. This eliminates that heavy feeling in my opinion. Lastly another pro that I have for the Ange quickdraw is the length. I prefer to have my draws longer but not too long like my extended draws I have to make. I'm able to grab it quick and clip, without having to worry about "Is this draw too short?", "Will the rope drag?" and "Will this draw be long enough to clear the overhang?". The only con that I have with this quickdraw is the sling color being white. I'm not a fan of white in general, because it gets dirty easily. Aside from that, I highly recommend this quickdraw!
