My perfect solution
I've purchased PFD's in the past, but always felt like I was being swallowed up by it due to my very short torso and larger chest. Sitting would push it up around my neck. So I purchased this as an alternative. - my intent to eliminate the bulk. I'm so glad I did. I was able to easily cinch it down to stay put, and it was cool and comfortable all day out on the water. Yes, it does require a little more attention to maintenance , but that is a small price to pay. I love this PFD!
Not for Petite Builds
So disappointed! The concept is great, but the execution is terrible. I'm 5' 4", 118 lbs. with a 26" waist and 32D bust. The vest is so wide that it overlaps my shoulders and if I were to try anything other than sitting still, it cuts into my arms. We bought these for paddleboarding, but with every stroke the stiff edges of the vest draws across my inner arm at the bicep. If it had a closure at the chest to make it narrower for smaller builds, it might work. One size fits most does not work with a life vest. How about scaling for different bodies and creating multiple sizes (XS-XL) instead? Sadly, these are going back.
NOT for curvy women!
I purchased this as an alternative to the inflatable belt type PFD's for rowing. I felt more secure with the PFD around me instead of trying to set one up in an emergency condition. I received it yesterday. I put it on, and promptly realized that due to my non-flat chest, it would not be practical for rowing or even just sitting in a boat. The bottom attachments of the Front vest is sewn in place on the belt strap. The only adjustment is on the back side of the waist belt. So as waist strap is extended, the neck yoke raises upwards on the back of the neck and the thick Vest tubing goes straight down the front. The gap on the photo is only about 2 inches. Great for flatter chests, but not workable for anyone else. IF there was an option to slide the front bottom section along the belt it would be practical. But this is not. -- Returning unused to REI promptly.
Very comfortable. Fits all (most) sizes.
It fits nicely on a wide size range of people. Female, 5'5", 130lbs, with room to tighten & male 6'2", 230lbs, with room to loosen.
excellent product, reasonably priced
easy to put on/take off. doesn't restrict movements for kayak or SUP, perfect for summer temps, but will easily fit over bulky/warmer clothes.
