Great Backpacking Pillow
We used these pillows on our backpacking trip to New Mexico (Philmont Scout Ranch). I had other pillows for car camping but these were much better than anything else I have ever used in a tent. They are a bit pricey but worth it. They had good support when inflated and packed small and light. I would use this over my other options every time.
7 YEARS OF INFLATABLE BLISS!
I've had my large blue pillow for 7 years of constant use. From motorcycle camping to lumbar support flying coach, it's been reliable comfort. It was familiar support to rest my weary head upon in dodgy riads in Morocco and accompanied me through Baja & other wild places. It even worked well as an air cushion under my sling when I broke my arm. It is tiny when packed in its stuff sack, weighs nothing, is soft, and easily adjustable to the perfect puff for every need. It finally acquired a slow, mysterious leak. I won't send it in for warranty. I'll March right out and pay whatever stupid price for a replacement. SO. WORTH it.
GREAT LUMBAR BACK CUSHION and PILLOW!
This pillow has worked perfectly for me, and I have not yet used it as a pillow! Sea to Summit and REI are missing a great opportunity by not advertising this pillow as The Perfect Lumbar Back Support Cushion. I have tried many different cushions and pillows to give me the support I need when sitting in car seats or my favorite living room and dining room chairs at home. This pillow works perfectly for that purpose. I can easily adjust the amount of inflation to the exact amount I need. It holds the inflation level without leaking. I’m confident it will work just as well for my camping pillow. I plan to buy a couple more. GREAT PRODUCT!
So Far So Good
This is just an initial review since I only got to use it on a 4 day 3 night hunting trip. Looking it over it seems to look and feel more durable than some other brands. I like the curve of the pillow which allows the pillow to really cradle your head. One great thing I liked was that I didn’t have to play around with the level of air in the pillow to get my desired support. I was comfortable sleeping on my back and on my side. The pillow also did not slide around or pop out from under my head in the middle of the night. Anyways, take this 4 star review with a grain of salt. I still have to see how durable this thing.
Comfortable, but don't let it overheat
Very comfortable pillow. Been using for...well, I forget when I bought it, but I can say for certain that I've had at least 100 nights using it. It does not make noise, and it is very easy to inflate. It also breathes fairly well, I don't find myself sweating from lack of circulation like I do with many other air-bladder type products. However, I would give you one word of warning. Remember air expands when you heat it. If you leave your pillow fully inflated in your tent, which also happens to be placed where it will get full sun for a few hours on a hot day turning it into an easy-bake oven with too high of a wattage bulb, your pillow WILL try to get bigger...emphasis on "try". It will develop a hole. I mean, *I* wouldn't do that, but someone, *not me* could do it. And when I buy a new one (later today), it is only coincidence. :)
Comfy!
Im a boy scout in North Carolina, I've used this pillow a few times. It is extremely durable and lives up to its name but theirs a few cons about this pillow. Note I am also a side sleeper When I slept on it it would slide off of my pad ( I use the Nemo tensor) and when I would re-adjust, it would slide off my head. Also, when its filled up all the way and i sleep on it it feels like the blood in my neck inst flowing sorry I dont know another way to describe it but yeah. Other than that its a really good pillow and a tip: jsut stuff the pillow in and dont roll it up its way easier to do.
Better than memory-foam for neck
More comfortable than memory-foam neck pillows: I've bought then returned those so-called neck pain relief pillows, and spotted this at the REI store. Knowing that returns are easy and most products sold are top-notch, I got this on a weekday and had a better sleep right away. It's not hot on my neck too (which I hate about foam pillows). No loss of air due to leakage. I've propped my ankle up one night when it was sore, it stayed solid. I WOULD buy this again, and since it's nice and compact (at least the model I purchased is, there is a bigger model too), it will be bringing it along on a long bus ride later in the year. Helpful hint: adjust the inflation to slightly less than full for a nice firm but squishy feel.
Inner plastic disintegrated after a few years
I used this while trekking through Yosemite. It is standard as far as comfort. Most camping pillows slip around and pop out from under your head at night. So does this one. What was the real bummer was after it sat in my closet for a few years (7 to be exact) it didn’t inflate. I cut the outer fabric to see what was up and the plastic inside had disintegrated. 7 years sounds like a lot but my Camp Trails tent and LL Bean sleeping bag are 25 years old and going strong. So are all the other items that are 7 years old - water bladder, Northface backpack, camp light, etc. Wouldn’t buy this pillow again.
good at first, then leaks
I have owned three of these. I want to like them. When you first buy them, they are great. They pack small. They are soft and fit your neck. But after you use them a few times, maybe a year, they start to leak. Not just one leak that can be fixed. I did a leak test in the sink. Entire seams leak air. Not anywhere near worth the money. Sorry
Both of mine sprung leaks
While they're very comfy: The one I got for my spouse sprung a leak at a seam, near the fuzzier fabric, the 2nd time he used it. I got around 20 overnights out of mine before it sprung a leak in the seam near the fuzzier fabric too. The pillows were not completely full at the time; we didn't over-inflate. I don't move around in my sleep, nothing punctured either, it seems it was just a seam issue. My cheaper Sea to Summit inflatable pillow has held up longer and through more abuse.
