size off
My son wore these in size 12/1 for two summers. Loved them so much I searched our purchase history to get them again. Ordered the 2/3 which figured would fit him perfectly. His heal hung off the back by 2”. So ordered the next size up. That was too small as well. After 3 orders and having the 6/7, they still don’t fit. His heal is sticking off the back and the front has an extra inch of shoe beyond the end of his toes. So bummed as they are a great company and the shoes lasted literally 2 years. But alas, he’s back to wearing the size 2/3 flip flops that fit him perfectly from the Dollar Tree. Would have much rather supported Free Waters and REI.
Comfortable but would like other color choices
Received these for my 10 year old daughter. As she normally wears a size 4 1/2, I got here the 4/5. However, they run small and her heel is hanging slightly off the back. She said they are quite comfortable and wears them all the time. She likes the pattern with fern leaves, dragonflies, and butterflies but didn't like the pink color scheme. She'd rather have had more choices including blue/green. The pattern gets dirty easily & it shows. Also, they have a slight tread on the bottom, so they're not completely flat and smooth which provide some grip, though not much.
2020 sizing way off
My daughter was gifted two pairs of flip flops. Theses and some Tevas. She wears a kids size 4.5. The size 5 Tevas fit great. The 4/5 Freewaters were so small (both too narrow and too short) that she couldn’t even get them on. I double checked the label but shoe figuring the must be a mismatch between the tag and the label, but no. The 4/5 match the size of 2/3 we have that are too small.
Way too small...
This is a photo of a 4/5 that I bought last year n compared to this year's 4/5. These aren't even close to being the same size. I'm so bummed. I loved the new design but no way will these fit.
Excellent kiddo sandals!
These flip flops have been excellent for my child so far this summer. They typically wear a size 2, and are wearing a 2/3 in the photo. These sandals run true to size and are even wide enough for wider kiddo feet! My child has worn them to the creek where we spend a lot of time with wet feet in the rocks, and they have stood the test of stability and comfort while wet. I love the wide straps because they don’t cut into my child’s feet. They also aren’t super plasticy like most flip flops which helps to cut back on chafing when the shoes are wet. A review from a child: ‘They’re SOOOOOO comfy!’
At least 2 sizes too small
Two words: runs small. The flip-flops themselves are well made, with *thick*, firm foam soles and sturdy thong straps, but holy hannah is the sizing off! My 8 year old son who typically wears kids size 4 New Balance shoes tried on a size 4/5 and complained that they were far too tight. We then tried on the size 6/7, and his only comment was: "Dad... I think I'm going to outgrow these sandals... about now." I rate them 2 stars because they're decent quality, but given the terrible, terribly small sizing, these are going to get returned.
Sized way too small!
I wished I would have read the reviews and saved myself some time. I bought a 2/3 thinking there'd be room for him to wear them next year. They are a 1/4 inch smaller than his current 13/1 flipflops from walmart and there is not enough space under the straps so he can't even slide his foot in. REI needs to stop selling these until they get the sizing worked out. The material is nice and the quality seems good. Just way too small.
Solid Pair of Transition Flippies for my Kiddo
Before these, my daughter had only worn flip-flops with a heel band to keep them on her feet. I was interested to see how she did with these and they've worked out pretty well. They are slightly larger than she was probably ready for, but she'll likely get two summers out of them and have been perfect for walking down to and around the pool swim practice. Construction-wise, they aren't much different from others she's worn (Rainbow, Sanuk) but she loves the color and pattern. I asked her how she'd describe them "Squishy, comfy, grippy, flippy, floppy" They're a winner for her. :)
Very confortable
My 7 years old loves those water shoes. They are very confortable and he wears them indoor, outdoor and at the pool. The are not slippery and stay confortable even when wet. We usually buy shoes with a support in the back of the ankle but he has not been complaining about it.
too small
My son at 7 likes the color, but Size runs too small even I purchased 2 size larger than he the size he wear, it’s bother to ship back during pandemic, waste money
